My father took me to this park when I was growing up. There is now a children’s play area within the park.

Located just across the river in Handbridge this is the statue of Minerva who was the main worshipped goddess of old Deva. Worth a trip here for a glimpse of Roman history still in situ

Set in a small park, just across the river Dee bridge. Carved at the site of the Roman Quarry. A stunning small shrine carved into a boulder.

After stepping off the wall walk and crossing the Old Dee bridge go visit the Minerva's Shrine, its another piece of Roman history in and around Chester but its not looked after much and seems a bit lacking on care, but well worth a visit.

The sculpture itself is 1900 years old & unique. However there is no attempt whatsoever at providing ANY information or context for the site. An investment of £1000 would go a very long way...

Situated in Edgar's Field Park on the side of an outcrop of rock, a total let down really, not loved and no information plaque to inform you of its history.

This statue has history going back thousands of years. It is s shame therefore to see the place in a mess. The shrine has fallen to pieces and it is hardly cherished as it should be.

Is it just a myth or is there hard evidence that this is a statue of Minerva? I like to ask questions, I'm curious, it makes life more interesting and you learn more. So whatever this carving is, it's a carving in an out crop...More
