Walking along the Chester city wall was the highlight of my day. I walked a ways, took a view of other attractions, and came back to it. Love the history, love the views of the city and the river and canals. Without a car, walking...More

Took us about an hour and a half all the way round but that was a slow walk, reading the various plaques and stopping to admire the views. Definitely worth a trip.

A great walk with great views of Chester. Very enjoyable. Had information points so you could read the history while you were walking. Quite a few steps so probably wouldn’t manage if you were a wheelchair user.

We walked between the Falconry and Grosvenor Park, Passing behind the Cathedral it was a windy day but the wind chill was not as bad as I thought as the wall protected us, very popular and at places a little busy. Another free thing-to-do in...More

Start your tour off at the Eastgate Clock bridge, and go North. The wonderful Cathedral and gardens comes next, with the Carillon sounding the bells when calling to local events. Look the other side of the wall, and you are above the back of shops...More

Sorry for the delay in replying. The wall is free and open at all times. No guided tour but plaques explaining local sights and information at various points along the wall. The castle keep is free to to look around.

Loads of car parks in the centre, Grosvenor Hotel car park entrance - 1 mins to walls. Law Courts / river area car parks - 1 mins to wall. Race course / Market area car parks (lots of them) - 1 mins to walks - hope this helps
