Lovely city to explore the history along side the modern shopping experience enjoyed by teenager and adult.

Enjoyable and free! What's not to like. Good views of the river, race course, roman gardens etc. and you can cut it short if necessary

Not for anyone with leg probs. many steps and climbs. Personally since living in Chester all my life, think of much better walks. Some areas are better than others, King Charles tower good, but down by river Dee best viewed from banks.

The walls allow you to make a complete circuit of the centre of Chester- above street level for much of the way. It gives you an excellent view, from above, of the cathedral, Roman gardens and ruins, the river etc. We loved the squirrels near...More

The walls have remained largely intact where you can see both Chester's medieval and Roman history. You get great views of the surrounding area including the River Dee.

Sorry for the delay in replying. The wall is free and open at all times. No guided tour but plaques explaining local sights and information at various points along the wall. The castle keep is free to to look around.

Loads of car parks in the centre, Grosvenor Hotel car park entrance - 1 mins to walls. Law Courts / river area car parks - 1 mins to wall. Race course / Market area car parks (lots of them) - 1 mins to walks - hope this helps
