Mill Road is famous for its diversity of independent shops - sadly spoiled by the Council allowing a Tesco Express and a Sainsburys Local to open. Mill Road is divided into 2 halves by a railway bridge. The city side is in Petersfield, and the other side is Romsey (site of a much unwanted Tesco Extra but compensated by a... More

It is one of the more run down but interesting areas of the city, There are lots of independent shops of all types and fewer of the chains. Here is the place to search out second hand books, Chinese supermarkets and vegetarian restaurants. Stray a few hundred yards either side and you will come across some excellent pubs. It's a... Really interesting range of eclectic shops - plenty of eateries to try out. Parking rather tricky so best to walk here - gives a more locals view of Cambridge

Mill Road is very different from the rest of the city. It has a lot of nice international supermarkets and restaurants. Past the bridge one can also find nice coffee shops and cocktail bars. After a year of living in the city I find this the most interesting place.

In one way this is another simply, even grotty street. In another way, it is ethnically diverse, quirky, with good quality charity shops and a wide variety of eating places. My guess is that non-Brits will love it but Brits from any big city will say, 'We've got plenty just like this at home.'

Mill Road is a long road with shops on most of its two sides. These are mainly independent and quirky. Food, antiques, charity, booze and so on. My ambition is to walk down one side and back up the other with lots of places for refueling on the way.

It used to be the way to town, a few shops and somewhere to eat. Now its a mecca, of activity, like a holiday town, of its own.... There is so much to see, do and get.

Mill Road is a bustling microcosm of different cultures, an area where an electrical components shop right out of the 1930s can exist cheek by jowl with a Korean food supermarket. You can fill a happy hour walking from the Fire Station end to the antique markets in the former Dales Beers Brewery building in Gwydir Street. Take in the... More
