Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There's such a peaceful atmosphere at Magdalene College and the setting by the river is amazing. We also enjoyed the quietness of the chapel and in the springtime the flowers (especially the wisteria) are magnificent. They have built an amazing new architecturally stunning library which contrasts with the historic Samuel Pepys one and the other old buildings of the college. If you're in Cambridge, worth a walk through.

My family was recently allowed to stroll the college discreetly while a wedding was about to happen. We very much appreciated the effort of the staff to allow us to view this magnificent and historic place. C.S. Lewis spent a long period of time here. It was inspiring to be on such grounds. Thank you!

Smaller in size than the big names, Magdalene offers a free and relativity peaceful Cambridge College experience. The wonderful Pepys Library offers a great insight to an amazing collection and the College courts gracing the river side of the College are beautiful in their simplicity and historical atmosphere.
Well worth a visit for an enjoyable escape from a busy day.

What wonderful architecture this college has and beautiful manicured gardens. It's position next to the Cam is pleasurable especially on a bright summers day.
I've been very fortunate in the fact my daughter has attended this prestigious college for the past four years and I've been able to experience Formal Dining by candle light in the beautiful wooden panelled Dining Hall.
If Pepys Library is open to the public it is well worth a visit

It was a real privilege to be invited to dine at the high table, converse with distinguished scholars, & stay overnight in a charming guest suite overlooking the first courtyard & chapel.

It's impossible not to be impressed & humbled by an institution with almost seven centuries of devotion to learning & teaching. A visit here unavoidably raises counterfactual speculation of what one's life might've been like, given the opportunity to spend extended time here!

Free one unlike others so good if you have kids as paying for Kings etc not worth it as younger kids would get bored quickly. Pepys library is fascinating. Beautiful chapel.

One of the smaller colleges, but very beautiful, especially it's fellows' garden which is gorgeous in spring and summer.

Magdalene is one of the smaller colleges within the University, numbering some 300 undergraduates and an expanding postgraduate community. It`s Pepys Library is unique with a collection of 3,000 books and manuscripts put together by Samuel Pepys and bequeathed at his death to Magdalene College, where he had been a student. The admission to the college was free and we enjoyed walking through the gardens.

A little bit away from the main drag around Kings college, but well worth the walk. Free to get in, and worth 10-15 mins of your time

This is the old French motto for Magdalene College Cambridge first founded in 1428 as a Benedictine Hostel and later becoming known as Buckingham College before being rebounded under its present name in 1542. Its most famous alumnus is the diarist Samuel Pepys whose extensive collection of papers and over 3,000 books was donated to the college on his death and for which the library bearing his name was built around 1700. It is open weekdays from 2-4 only. On my visit I was impressed not only to see the original manuscripts of his diaries and naval records but also portraits in oil of the great man and some of his contemporaries. I also visited the chapel which dates from 1470-2 although subsequent renovations mean little remains of the original construction apart from the roof. Most of its artwork has Mary Magdalene as its theme. On my way out I caught a glimpse only of the dining hall.
