Little St Mary's is a small Neo-Gothic church with connections to Peterhouse. Also buried in Little St Mary's is Reverend Godfrey Washington, the great uncle of the first US President. The coat of arms of the Washington family can be found on the monument to Godfrey Washington's and it bears a resemblance to the American flag. The interior of the church is pretty simple and is more like a parish church. The stained glass window id definitely the most outstanding feature of the church and is worth a detour if you're around Peterhouse or Corpus Christi

When walking down Trumpington Street, take time to walk down Little St Mary's Lane and visit the church and gardens they are beautiful. The garden is small, rustic and a hidden gem on a sunny spring day.
The church has a large impressive stained glass window.

This church at the northern end of Trumpington Street is called ‘Little St. Mary’s’ so as to distinguish it from the much grander Great St. Mary’s, the church in a more central Cambridge location with a tall tower to climb. Yet Little St.Mary’s is equally steeped in history, dating from the 12th century albeit much of its present form is due to restorations by Sir George Gilbert Scott (he of St. Pancras Hotel fame) in the 1850s). Hence its appearance is essentially Victorian even though a lady chapel was added in 1931. This afternoon the organ was being played creating an atmospheric backdrop to a traditional interior but some splendid stained glass windows. I briefly visited a slightly spooky graveyard at the back.

Set in a delightful wildlife/wilderness garden, this is a beautiful church with regular services and a really welcoming feel.
It’s my “go to” church when I visit Cambridge.
The Vicar remembered I’d attended a service earlier in the year and the congregation invited me to join them for coffee after the service.
Whether you’re a regular church goer or a first timer, it would be difficult not to feel at home here.

We visited Little St Mary’s and attended morning service. It is a beautiful building with a very real sense of community amongst the large congregation of all ages. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and excellent music in the service.

This is an unpretentious, whitewashed church that used to be the chapel of Peterhouse. It has stained glass, dark wood pews and fittings and an airy, bright feel because the windows let in a lot of light. The smell of incense lingered in the air. There is a churchyard out the back which is quite overgrown but I loved what they had done with it, creating pathways and rearranging the worn away 18th century stones. It was very peaceful and I loved the three crosses and the way the light came in dappled through the mature trees. I also met a lovely cat.

There are so many buildings and churches in Cambridge that the smaller ones get overshadowed. This is set back slightly from the road so it was only by chance we went in at the end of our visit. Has a few carved wooden pews and a screen. Simple and peaceful

Not being religious I wasn't sure what I would make of Little St Mary's Church. After entering and seeing the magnificence inside, I was taken aback by the sheer beauty.

An amazing building to visit. While it's not as lively as some more charismatic churches, it is a friendly, welcoming place. They have very nice back garden, and superb organ .
We walked in and walked out, enjoyed our short peaceful stay.
