Great to get out of Bristol and enjoy some fresh air. You can walk and discover why the Romans reached here (Silver and lead). Of course Cheddar Gorge is part of this CarboniferousLimestone region

Charterhouse is an amazing place, at one time it was a thriving industrial centre using minerals mined on the spot, ever since Roman times up to 17C but has since reverted to nature. The whole area is great for walkers.

Great walk along Crooks Peak Ridge today - nice views, with a dramatic skyline over the Severn estuary. The Mendips offer a wide range of interesting walks and nice places to visit. Crooks peak is one of the Somerset 360s

Train from Bristol temple meads to Weston-super-mare, then get the 126 bus to cheddar. Takes around 1 hour 30, but isn't too expensive
