Excellent tour of the building for a mere £5. You get a lot of history, some fine architecture and great views of Bristol from the top. And the guides were fun. Recommended whether you have any connection with Bristol university of not.

A must see if you come to Bristol. The best views over the city in every direction. Our guides were very entertaining and knowledgeable, telling us all about the history of the University, its founders and recent celebrity alumni and honorary graduates. Lots of climbing of spiral staircases, so you may not be able to do the whole tour if you struggle with heights or enclosed spaces. Otherwise, a thoroughly recommended use of an hour and a half.

I have wanted to do the tower tour for a while now and had the opportunity to visit recently. We parked in Trenchard Street car park and is was a short walk. The £5 entry charge is excellent value for money. And the money goes to charity. It lasted about 90 minutes. It is only available at weekends I would advise booking as it was very popular when we went. The building is impressive as you approach it and is cathedral like inside with vaulted fan ceilings. Gary the tour guide and his colleagues, are very friendly and knowledgeable. You start the tour in the Great Hall with a talk about the history and past famous students at the university. You then make your way up to the top of the bell tower, this involves over 300 steps in enclosed spiral staircases. The climb is worth it for the view across Bristol. If you are on the 11 am tour you get the chance to see (and hear) the bell Great George, chime mid-day. The tour then visits the historic library and the council chambers where you get the chance to take a seat and recover from all the climbing and hear the history of the heraldry adorning the walls.

Great place to visit. Harry Potter alike feels. Our son was absolutely amazed. Nice and funny guides. Highly recommend Cost £5 pp and £3 per child Time 90-100 min

Brilliant tour! I went with my 13 year old daughter and even she enjoyed it. Gary our tour guides were very informative and funny too. We started in the Great Hall where the university has it’s graduation ceremonies and then we climbed the 345 steps to the top of the tower, stopping off to see Great george, the bell on the way. Some of the steps are up a very small spiral staircase, so if you don’t like confined spaces you might struggle. The views at the top are amazing! We got to stand next to George the bell when it rang at 2pm. On the way back down we stopped off at the library which was modelled on Oxford and Cambridge universities. We learnt a lot of interesting information about the university and the people behind it, as well as other some other facts about Bristol. Highly recommend! The ticket cost which is only £5 each goes towards the children’s hospital.

Cathedral like, it is classed as one of the last great Gothic buildings to be completed in England. It is stunning particularly within but also on approach. Finally opened with much ceremony in 1925, after delays due to WW I, it is now a landmark building of the University.

I can't recommend the Wills Memorial Tour enough! I absolutely loved it when I went for the first time and have made it a point to bring every friend visiting Bristol along. Gary and Sara do a fantastic job leading the tour, making it both informative and fun. Their passion for the history and architecture of this iconic building really shines through. It's also wonderful to know that the money from ticket sales goes to support the Children's Hospital charity, making this experience even more worthwhile.
