Such a beautiful atmosphere, such peace and a very warm feel. History abounds, just to be able to wander and absorb so much history of many people from so many aspects.

Tranquil, beautiful place. Lots of trees and a lovely woodland walk. Great place for a bit of calm and a place great for thinking.

a vast area of the final resting place for thousands. Very overgrown with bramble and ivy in the older areas - Really interesting inscriptions and sad reminders of the toll of War - Some flamboyant sites to important people One can spend hours here in peaceful remembrance of so many who have died in the service of Our Country .... A sweet little coffee shop but not much of a menu and have only ever seen one staff member who heats the food up behind the counter so looks like a simple operation and not geared towards crowds or busy times. Food and drink is nice enough but nothing amazing.

It seems an odd place to visit, a cemetery, but I was last there 40 years ago and decided to visit again this year. It is very overgrown and I think the volunteers will probably never get a handle on clearing the site up to any great extent because it has become so bad. Nevertheless, it still has an intrigue... Even on a cold winter's day Arnos Vale Cemetery was full of birdsong. It is easy to reach by public transport - either walk along Bath Road from Temple Meads Station, or catch the no. 1 bus. (The no. 2 bus also goes nearby). We preferred the wilder areas further and higher up from the main road. As it is... More
