The steps provide a blast from the past with its historical roots! The small independent shops scattered along the journey are cute and offer many small odds and end that are great gifts! The steps are well maintained but still have a rugged nature serving...More

A remnant of the past with photogenic old buildings, a few shops and a lot of tourists. Good to visit

Go back in time by exploring this old part of Bristol.. very quaint with old cobblevstreetvas in olden days. Interesting little shops which are often changing. Stamp, music, bridal, food. Also at top old Mews houses and good short cut to town

This spot always fascinates me and is worth a little detour if you're in the area. Unfortunately many of the shops are now shut and the street feels like it's in decline. There aren't too many steps so most people should have no problem climbing...More

It is interesting and a step back in time but many of the shops were either closed down or shut unfortunately. It was some climb to the top

Apparently could have been the inspiration for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter books. Little else to them. Why the name - I'm no wiser.

I have been to Christmas Steps before, but not for a very long time. I remembered it having lots of quirky old shops and atmosphere. It is an old part of the city and worth walking up if you are passing.

Bristol has nothing much in general - so I took a walk around and came across these steps. Nothing unique or different whatsoever except for an interesting cafe at the end of the steps (for those who love board games).

Living in York I see the Shambles there and this is likened to that. No it isn't. The shops are nothing to bother about and it doesn't have any atmosphere really. Just a very steep and tricky hill to navigate down. Wear non-slip shoes!

Almshouses worth taking a look at the top of the steps then stroll down the narrow lane with shops along the sides. Need to put your watch back several hundred years!
