Visited on Sunday to primarily visit the art gallery. There was a small but interesting modern art display. The wildlife is interesting. I was impressed with the intricate paper weights and glass wear. The ceramics illustrates examples that were produced by local potteries. Some of the plates have scenes from parts of Bristol. The Chinese display is the largest collection... More

I've visited the museum many times - often prompted by the staging of new exhibitions. This time I had an hour to spare so popped in to see the "Stone Age to Iron Age" exhibition (finishing June 2017). Entrance is free (as is the museum). The first thing to say is that the exhibition is quite small, occupying just one... More

This was my first visit. I came specifically to see the Adela Breton exhibition, which is superb. Her relationship with the museum started when she wanted to clear her dining room, which was full of objects collected on her visits to Mexico! I was also delighted to see the marvelous reliefs from Nimrud, which I had no idea were here.... More

I love this museum, it's really beautiful, the architecture, the decoration etc. As you're in england, it's a way to spend a good time without wasting a rainy day! :)

I've visited the museum and art gallery a few times and always enjoy it. The variety of exhibits is good: ceramics, glass, paintings (old and modern), fossils, crystals, dinosaurs, etc. The layout is easy to navigate, and the information panels with the exhibits are interesting and useful. It's free with a suggested donation, which at £5 each is well worth... More

My husband and I went there with an one to kill....ended up there over four hours...so much to see. The displays are well laid out and plenty of space so at times you feel you are the only person there .

For a relatively small museum it has a lot to see and something for everyone. Interesting exhibits on Egypt and dinosaurs.

Like most museums it has its strong points and its weak points. I was impressed with the geology and palaeontology sections. A good silverware section and glassware - although, oddly not a great deal of Bristol Blue. What it lacked in Bristol Blue it made up for in local ceramics - indeed, I thought the ceramic section generally was impressive.... More
