Woburn Abbey has been the home of the Earls and Dukes of Bedford for nearly 400 years and is now home to the 15th Duke and his family. Alongside the world class collection of art, the house contains the fascinating stories of the people who have shaped the history of both the Abbey and the nation; including the ‘creation ‘ of Afternoon Tea. The Gardens, with a twenty year restoration programme, are of equal splendour with 28 acres of Repton designs to be explored and discovered.Throughout the year Woburn also hosts a series of events including: classic cars rallies, The Woburn Abbey Garden Show, summer theatre, the country fair, vintage airplane rally and autumn deer walks.

You enter the grounds of Woburn Abbey through the wonderful deer park and along the road you can see the many species of deer including the Pere David's Deer. Once parked you pass through the shop and into the grounds. The daffodils look good but are now passing over shortly to be replaced by the many Rhododendrons and the water... More

We're relatively local to Woburn and it's a great place to take family and friends for a visit both to the house (which is beautiful and full of history) and around the gardens. There is so much to do here that you can really tailor your visit for the people you're with and it's never the same twice. We visited... More

Visited the Gardens on Sunday. We were welcomed at the entrance hut some several miles from the Abbey and asked if we had visited before. Having driven for an hour, our first stop was the tea rooms, where I had a Fentimann's Ginger Beer and Mum had a pot of the English Breakfast Tea. Sorry, readers, but the tea was... More

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch. I'm sorry that not all aspects of your visit met your expectations. It is a shame you didn't make your comments known on the day about your tea as we would have happily offered you an alternative or a replacement. Booked a carriage tour for my parents Xmas present & what a day to pick (April 9th) as the weather was glorious. After getting lost using the postcode given from the garden team (mk179wa) - do not use this postcode, you need to turn off by the woburn hotel, go past the free car park in woburn & then go... I spent a lovely afternoon with my Mum and sister exploring the beautiful Woburn Abbey Gardens. After stretching our legs we headed to the Bedford room, which is right next to Woburn Abbey for a delicious afternoon tea. The scones were the best we've had and it was such a lovely setting. The staff were all very helpful and the... More

I recently visited Woburn Abbey Gardens over the weekend to enjoy the English weather and I have to say its just 'simply beautiful'. All the staff I saw during my visit were very friendly and polite, they must work extremely hard to make the gardens look as beautiful as they are. I was also lucky enough to enjoy a lovely... More

We spent a few hours walking around the gardens as the Abbey is not open until April. Pleasant free activity. We then walked around Woburn village which has numerous cafe's, bars and restaurants; very quaint.

Thank you for sharing your experience of the gardens, pleased to see you enjoyed yourself however I need to point out that there is a charge for visiting the gardens and we are only open Friday-Sunday at this time of the year. Visiting as a family of four, we really felt that this was very poor value for money. The gardens is with no doubt be very impressive, but looked underinvested, and poorly maintained. Weeds have taken over some of the flower beds and there are plenty of dead flowers and plants that haven’t been removed, No staff seen in the whole... More

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. It is disappointing that you did not enjoy your visit to Woburn Abbey and garden last August. It is not our normal practice or standard to have weeds and dead flowers in the borders, it is hard for me to comment with more detail than this given the time that... More
