We visit here quite frequently when we want a quick walk. A bit of history mixed with ponies and sheep. The dartmoor ponies are smelly, curious and cautious at the same time, they are friendly enough to approach you but are easily spooked, I wouldn't want to get on the tail end of one. On my last visit I noticed... More

Walk the dogs here after visiting the Veterinary. It's a lovely area to stroll around. At the same time musing about it's history as an RAF aerodrome during WW2. The cafe used to be the Control Tower and has a small museum of interesting artifacts.

Not only a great place to walk, there is history attached. Great to see what used to be a WW2 aero drone. No planes now but plenty of sheep, ponies and cattle. Well worth a visit.

A great piece of open land to let the dog run free, but with a bit of history to, you can still make out the aerodrome and the bunkers where the planes parked up. Close to Yelverton lots of parking, I see their having a 1940's weekend event in September . There's a restaurant and hotel on the corner which... More

I was staying in meavy just down the road, and someone suggested I went here to walk my pup berry. The tearoom is a little dated and old fashioned but the service was excellent and the cream tea was enjoyed by both of us. I even had a history lesson whilst I was there as they have an authentic spitfire,... More

Interesting place a few hundred metres from Yelverton shops and church. Before you go look at the RAF Harrowbeer website via Google and also the excellent Google Earth pictures which show the layout and runways. This WWII fighter aerodrome was built hastily after the devastation of the Plymouth Blitz in a belated effort to protect the city and dockyard from... More
