About
Come enjoy our breathtaking 22 ha (55 acres) of gardens year around. In Spring, countless tulips, daffodils and hyacinths will give you a buffet of fragrances and colours. You’ll be saying “wow” when you experience our Summer: The Rose Garden, evening entertainment, subtle night illuminations, the Saturday firework show, and boat tours to name a few of the delights. Perennial borders start their stunning show in late summer, and the Japanese maples turn to russet, gold, and red in the fall. Be captivated by the Magic of Christmas with its decorations, expansive lighting and outdoor ice skating rink. Top off the day with a ride on the carousel and a great meal. Come see why we’ve been designated a National Historic Site.

Satisfaction Guaranteed ! (at least in my opinion)
Always a relaxing pleasure to visit Butchart Gardens. Haven't been here for a number of years so we went to refresh our memory. It was exactly as I remembered. We went on a week day to avoid any crowds. Weather was excellent and the stroll in the gardens was not disappointing. A must visit if in the Victoria area!

It should be on your bucketlist!
Arguably, this is the most beautiful place on earth. The gardens are 'out of this world'. There are lots of varieties of trees, flowers, and plants here, all of which are well-maintained and beautifully presented. You can easily spend 3-4 hours here. There is something very calming about this place, and I cannot highly recommend it enough.

    Absolutely stunning
Absolutely a feast for the eyes! Exquisite flowers and trees everywhere, even the trash cans had lovely floral arrangements on top! The redwoods sequoias and creative water, fountains were a treat and the rose garden and Japanese garden were also exquisite. It’s hard to overstate how beautiful this experience was. Worth, every penny!

    Highlight of our Victoria Vacation
One of the highlights of our week in Victoria was our half day tour to The Butchart Gardens. We were simply blown away by how beautiful the gardens were. Wasn't sure what to expect, but it far exceeded anything we had imagined. This is a MUST see for every visitor to Victoria, you won't be disappointed!

    Stunning and serene
I am not a "let's see a garden" kind of guy. I go because my wife likes to see them and I like to be with my wife. However, the Butchart Gardens was by far the most visually stunning and viscerally serene gardens I've seen. It is the Augusta National of gardens. A must see.

    Stunning spring bulbs!
Outstanding spring bulb display. We also had High Tea to celebrate a friends 50th wedding anniversary. Amazing service. Gift shop not overpriced like i was expecting. Entry fee a bit steep, so even if you go twice or more in a year get the season's pass.

    Beautiful gardens,
The gardens were beautiful, very well cared for not a leaf out of place. We visited at the end of June, and although some areas were busy, in particular the Japanese gardens we still were able to take pictures that looked like we were the only ones there. We ate at restaurant having afternoon tea, this was 49 dollars per person, but worth it it was a fantastic experience. The gardens are wheelchair accessible, but narrow so at times people needed to move into another area to let you pass, most people were very good about this. I have my own wheelchair, but the gardens do provide some manual wheelchairs on a first come first served basis, we arrived early and there were none. My dad hired a scooter which cost 80 dollars for the day and was there on arrival. (Butchart gardens Web site have a link) Overall a lovely day, that I would highly recommend.

    Beautiful
We went in the evening from a cruise ship. It was still light so easy to see. Beautiful gardens. We got ice cream in a cup. Two scoops was $10 but good. I'd probably get one scoop next time as I don't eat a lot of ice cream.

If you do only one thing when you are on Vancouver Island this should be it!
A world class experience. A heritage site and it’s easy to understand why! At every turn you come face-to-face with gorgeous floral exhibits and arrangements. The garden can become a little crowded at times but there is still plenty of opportunity to view and photograph the different sub gardens. This is a must visit when on the island.

    Stunning!
Absolutely beautiful! Not a blade of grass out of place. No sign of a gardener so are they tended out of hours? Enjoy the ride on the carousel - it's good fun. Very good value - we spent a leisurely 3 hours. Easy to get to in public transport from Down Town Victoria.

I have been looking forward to visiting the gardens for many years. I was not disappointed. Such a variety of plants. The sunken garden was spectacular. The fountain was amazing with all its different styles of spouting water. We were just a little early for the rose garden to be in bloom. I can easily see you could come each season and see a totally different view. We were there for about 4 hours and could easily have spent several more.

Visited this garden on a holiday.

Make no mistake this is an amazing garden.

But as they say in life timing is everything so be aware that it will be more striking when its springtime or summer if you are looking to see blooms and some roses.
I guess that's why they also sell all year round passes.

The High Tea was a little underwhelming and disappointing and we left on a Low.

The venue and setting was pretty surrounded by the garden. Service was good the selection of teas was good but the food was underwhelming.

I think their take on flavors left us wondering about Vancouver produce.
Simply too complicated and the order of the food and desert upset our tummies.
In summary price was not reasonable, over $60pp. Unfortunately even the venue could not save the food.

In short if you visit the garden, spend some money in the excellent gift shop and give the not so High Tea a miss!

Absolutely breathtaking! This was the perfect time of year to go. It did rain lightly during our visit but they had complimentary umbrellas available for free. Almost everything was in bloom. The staff was very nice and helpful whenever I needed assistance. The paths had wheelchair access and bathrooms throughout most of the gardens.

We ate at the Blue Poppy restaurant. I had a steak and fries for $23 (USD). The steak was perfectly cooked, the fries were crispy, and the salad was hearty. I couldn't be happier with the price or quality of the meal.

Haven't been there for 30 years, and thought it was fantastic then, and is fantastic now! Unbelievably beautiful, no comparison. Had the afternoon tea too, and it was also a wonderful experience. This is one of my favorite places on earth to see, no kidding!

After wandering through the grounds being delighted at every turn, we had high tea in the Dining Room. It was perfection from the welcome to the farewell. Our server was cheerful without being forced. The signature drinks that we had were excellent, the teas we chose came in huge metal teapots (I believe I had had four perfect cups from my teapot). And then the food - - oh my- - the food. It started out with a berry trifle and then the three tiered plate of scones, savouries, and sweets. Delicious every bite.

The Butchart Gardens are a must-visit when in Victoria. Words can’t capture how beautiful these gardens are. Immaculately maintained, they are likely among the prettiest in Canada. The Sunken Garden is my favorite, followed by the Italian Garden. The site also features a few good restaurants and a carousel. It takes about two hours to explore the gardens when the crowd is small. The gardens open at 9 am, but they let visitors in early to get a head start, which I did to avoid the crowds. By the time I was leaving around 10:30 am, swarms of people were arriving. A taxi from downtown costs about $60, which is not cheap. Definitely an excursion not to miss.

A very popular attraction for a reason. The gardens are stunning and you can easily spend hours walking thru them.
The day we visited it rained but they had umbrellas on site.
The staff were extremely helpful.

Gardens are spectacular in sheer design and lovely to walk through. The gift shop staff were delightful and helpful. The high teas is a huge waste of money however. My sincerest advice is to read the menu carefully to ensure you like the eclectic ingredients and combinations of the sandwiches because none of it made sense to us when we tasted it and the sandwiches were a tad soggy unfortunately. ONe other thing that I thought was disappointing is there was no coddled cream for the scones only mascarpone cheese.
