These internationally acclaimed floral display gardens, and National...

These internationally acclaimed floral display gardens, and National Historic Site of Canada, started over 100 years ago and remain privately owned by the family. Jennie Butchart wanted to make her husband's depleted limestone quarry look better and the result is the Sunken Garden. Other gardens include the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden and the Italian Garden. The gardens are meticulously maintained and provide a riot of colour for much of the year. During the summer, special lighting subtly illuminates the gardens, musical entertainment takes place on the Concert Lawn, and there are ten spectacular Saturday night Firework Shows. The Magic of Christmas season also has beautiful lighting and evening entertainment, and an outdoor skating rink. Spring offers hundreds of thousand flowering bulbs and Autumn is the time for dahlias, chrysanthemums and fall colours. The Gardens is open daily, year round.

One of Birtish Columbia’s landmarks, this private garden is a must see. It has kept its old school charm but can be to crowded at times. Go there early in the morning to have a bit of space for yourself and the chance to take picture without having to excuse yourself ten times in a row. A very short distance... More

I have to say that I can tell that the Butchart Gardens is probably a very beautiful and breath taking place, by the little we saw. I say that because, unfortunately for us the weather was the worst they've had here in 26 years, or so I've heard! What we did see was all indoors of course, but it was... More

This is one of the great gardens to visit in North America. The fountain is computer controlled and I'm told that is does not repete the same pattern very often.

Excellent well laid out garden. Check the weather & time of year if you want to see lots of flowers better to go late spring or during the summer. Amazing English afternoon tea, a must for any visitor!

Explore this garden year round, even spring when the buds have just begun to appear. The trees stripped of their leaves are living sculptures.

The gardens always have a gorgeous light display and it never cases to amaze. We also enjoyed the carousel even with the long wait to get on. For anyone who has bpnever been, it is definitely worth the night out to enjoy this beautiful attractions. We would plan a bit differently next time though, as we were very frustrated with... More

A slice of Heaven! Will be even more spectacular in full bloom! Many walking paths throughout the multiple gardens. If you go again the following day you will get a major discount! Well worth the trip. A gardeners and photographers dream! Due to an unusually cold winter the blooms are delayed about a month from what is typical!

Wish we had more time to explore this place! Too bad our cruise ship had a few delays because of immigration so we only had 2-3 hours to check the whole place out, which for me was definitely not enough. Each corner of this place was soooo gorgeous we took out time photographing everything!

Even though the winter hasn't been kind to the Island this year, Butchart Gardens always has their beautiful "Spring Prelude" all under cover and it's always beautiful!! We never fail to take it in no matter how many times we've seen it before. We also always have afternoon tea in the dining room, and it has never once disappointed. Butchart... More

My favorite! Just beautiful. Sometimes I thought I was looking at a picture it was so lovely! I would recommend following their suggested tour for efficiency and as to not miss anything. I loved the sunken garden. There is a lot there: restaurants, coffee shop, boat tour, carousel, seed and gift shop, etc. Be sure to get a free flower... More
