Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had stopped at the Rest Area Tourist Bay and the large sculpture of Rusty, the Tin Dog. The information panels In the Gazebo were very good with much local information and maps , including the options for the walk trails. Various items of old farm machinery added interest to the area. There was a small garden area with oriental figurines, BBQ and picnic tables and also a sign for the Pioneer Pathway. My wife decided not to undertake either walk, by the time I'd walked about 100m to the start the flies convinced me to pursue other attractions. Rusty is an impressive sculpture, apparently standing there in solitary splendour since 2004. Recently an another sculpture was created, a girlfriend for Rusty, but she is located in Stewart Street near the Centenary Garden. If you don't like the bush flies, I reckon the walk trails would be more pleasant in cooler months.

This was an interesting walk and good reading as we strolled through. Lots of nature to look at and enjoy, take a bike ride if you would prefer.

There are two circular walking trails, one 3.3kms and the other 1.8kms accessed from the information bay parking area opposite Rusty the tin dog. We walked there looking for wildflowers but maybe we are a bit early (9th September) because there wasn't much to see. It looks like the local school has been putting in quite a bit of work with this reserve, marking paths and clearing weeds etc. There are a couple of picnic tables along the way too. There is a bird hide looking over a dam but there was only a couple of grebes in it when we were there. HOWEVER, we were lucky enough to see an echidna during our walk through the reserve, quite a big one too! We saw quite a few different sorts of birds.
If you're in Dowerin its worth a little look. Perhaps in a couple of weeks there will be more wildflowers and perhaps if we had gone earlier or later in the day we may have seen some roos.
