Definitely worth the drive to the point on Mayne Island. A great place to watch the ferry up close. There’s a nice short walk around the grounds that were well maintained. All the gulf island parks are worth discovering on this quaint island.
We timed our visit just right to see many Bald Eagles, both mature and immature, diving for herring in the Active Pass. We also saw Sea Lions cruising by. Alas, no Orca, but lots of Pileated Woodpeckers and Northern Flickers hammering away.
We bought some provisions at the Tru-value store, some wine at the Trading Post, and came here for a picnic. The weather was fine and we stayed for the afternoon.
