Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The lighthouse wasn’t our destination for visiting Quadra Island, but rather an RV park nearby. My family and I went to check it out to find it all fenced off and not accessible as it an active lighthouse still in operation. It was neat to see. Nonetheless because when we returned to main island we spotted it from faraway to use as a landmark. Not much to see overall though.

Located on the southern end of Quadra Island, the protecting lighthouse since 1898 guided sailors through the treacherous channel known as Discovery Passage. In reality, it is not much of a lighthouse and nor is it opened to the public. The surrounding beauty, though, is what should drive you hear.

In the summer time you may be lucky to spot a cruise ship, salmon fishing boats, seals and even whales in the passage. The vistas are spectacular. On a clear day, you can spot several mountains on Vancouver Island. The beach is filled with various sizes of driftwood.

Cape Mudge Lighthouse is named for the First Lieutenant of Captain Vancouver who discovered the area in 1790. The name “Campbell” actually came from Vancouver’s surgeon. And Quadra Island received its name from a Spanish navigator who explored the area too.

We enjoyed a stop at Tsa-Kwa-Luten Lodge. It is free to roam around. We highly recommend, though, a visit to Rebecca Spit Provincial Park further north on Quadra Island. Walking to the end of the Spit is a memory we will never forget.

A picturesque old lighthouse on Cape Mudge.. we hiked the beach from Tsa-Kwa-Luten Lodge to visit the lighthouse... it is about a 20 minute walk along the beach... interesting to see what appears to be the old fog horn and the newer installation...worth a look when on Quadra Island..

The Cape Mudge Lighthouse was our second destination, just after the Museum, and we found it to be a Super Cool sight. There's a road that you can drive right up to the lighthouse, or you can walk along the beach from the lodge. Once there, do walk down along the beach for the best views.

Try and find the petroglyphs at low tide, we found two. Its a challenge and the tide definitely needs to be out. No services or washrooms anywhere so be prepared.

Beautiful zen like spot. Bring your beach chairs and umbrella and bypass the spa or yoga. If you can't relax here you'll never relax.

The lighthouse at Cape Mudge is a prime example of a typical BC coast light station. The walk along the beach in front of it is a wonderful stroll in good weather. We walked to the southern end of the cape and on this day, the wind was light. But I imagine with a heavy South-easter blowing, this would be a stormy headland (though I'm guessing perfect for storm watching).

I have been to Cape Mudge a couple of times and the views from the Lighthouse and the cliffs are awesome, and an easy walk for most people

If you happen to be on Quadra Island this is worth visiting. Especially on a warm day, the beach would be amazing! We happened to see a couple of hump back whales as well!

A small lighthouse surrounded by fencing was not what I was expecting. I would not call this a destination lighthouse. The short walk to get to it from the Tsa Kwa Luten Lodge was also not particularly scenic as it mostly followed a gravel road fronting small cabins. It was more scenic just to sit on the lodge's deck and watch the sunset over the water.
