On our way from Tofino to Victoria we took a detour to Ucluelet especially to do the Lighthouse Loop Trail as we read it was so nice. "Nice" is an understatement : it was stunning. The trail is only 2.6km long but has stunning views, benches to sit down and enjoy those views, you walk past the Lighthouse, after every... More

When we were there, the lighthouse wasn't open to visitors. It didn;t look like it ever opens to visitors. However the walk around the lighthouse, the wild pacific trail, is fabulous and well worth doing. The views are amazing.

The walk around theLighthouse Trail takes about 1-2 hours depending on how often you stop at the multitude of view point benches that highlight the spectacular views on this walk. We pack a coffee thermos and take our time, every time we come here. When it's stormy the wave action is fantastic, at low tide the beach combing is fun.... More

Go north or south from the lighthouse and you'll see very different views and you won't be disappointed.

Visited this area on a sunny afternoon in December! A very rocky outcropping surrounded by crashing waves. Views of Vancouver Island mountains in one direction, the vast Pacific in another.

It was a short drive/walk from the center of town. The parking lot was small but we were there in the off season so wasn't too difficult. We got some amazing pictures of the lighthouse and the coast from Wild Pacific Trail

The lighthouse is very much worth visiting. I can only imagine how it must be weathering those intense pacific storms!

A photographer's haven. The Pacific in its grandeur, moaning buoys warns the ships gone by. This is the Shipwreck graveyard with a lot of history. Trails are nicely maintained, wheelchair accessible (providing you are strong to wheel yourself up the hills, or strong person pushing you). Stroller friendly. Great trails for running and easy to navigate. Dress accordingly, can get... More
