Although the weather wasn't the best the drive was great although a tad tiring due to the level of concentration required. This is not a drive to be rushed as there are some fantastic views. In fact, if someone behind is in a hurry let...More

This is a beautiful and majestic drive with wonderful vistas, giant valleys, lakes and mountains. The road is technical but not too dangerous if you follow the speed limit signs. When is says 20Km it really is 20Km. There are one way roads along the...More

Being from a relatively flat part of Alberta, I’ve never had the opportunity to drive on roads such as this. My boyfriend and I figured it would be nice as we were going into Vancouver and wanted to drive along the coast for the lasthe...More

Don’t let anyone tell you not to drive this road. It’s awesome. Views and stunning scenery for its entire length. Sure there are some steep inclines, some switch backs, some slow moving RVs etc but if you are not in a rush then take it...More

Duffy Lake road is quite a climb up with winding turns. When you can safely stop, you will be treated with snow caped mountains. Stop in and visit Joffrey Lakes, hikes might take from 5 minutes to 2.5 hours to reach the top glacier lake....More

I am blessed that my cousin loves driving and I could sit back mesmerized by the high snow capped mountains in the distance. I noted the body of water looked clear as glass, but my cousin feared it was a mosquito breeding ground. I would...More

We drove it both ways - east in the morning and then back over westbound after lunch in Lillooet. It is a highway, but a very demanding drive for someone not used to driving in the mountains or perhaps driving a motor home for the...More

Nice road, quite a lot of speed variations along the way between Pemberton and Lillooet. You'll see Lake Duffy about halfway along the road and there is a number of places to pull over and take photos etc. We were the in early May and...More

Very little gravel. Just a couple of short stretches, bridges and culvert construction

One short stretch south of Lillooet is unpaved due to a new bridge going in, but otherwise totally paved.

Hi ALL past users of "Duffy Lake Road" Hwy 99! We are hiring a 32" RV (with 3 bikes on the back as well!!) in late June this year and have planned a route using this road. I have read all your comments (about braking and switchbacks!) and i did run it past the RV hire company to see if it was a "NO GO road" but they did not comment. I am experienced in driving large vehicles and have a PCV (Double Decker Passenger Bus Licence -UK) and drove 12 metre buses all over Brighton UK for 7 years, but these are different beasts and i have never driven one before! In all of your opinions... is this road SAFE and practical to drive with an RV of the length? (I am very considerate driver and will be contiually pulling over to allow faster vehicles to pass). I don't want to get half way along and get stuck! We have all day to get from Squamish to Lilliooet. Is that practical in this size RV? Thank you in advance for all of your helpful advice. Paul - Sussex, UK.
