It is a place that is cool when water levels are high. The best part of it though is just going down the river on an inner tube. Relaxing normally but if water is high can be a trill.

Site is well presented and maintained. Fun for kids plus they learn a bit about the area's history and how logging worked in the 'old days'.

The only functioning log chute in Ontario. Note there's a nice but somewhat steep hike for those that want it across the dam.

This location is picturesque! The nature surrounding the log chute is calm and enjoyable. There are picnic tables and trails to hike that can be large 5 to 10km and short in a couple hundred meters. The log chute also has a podium of historical...More

THis site brings to reality what a darned hard life it was to make a living. The chute is in spectacular shape. The picnic area is very well maintained and very pretty. The information board is fascinating.

It was nice to see but my expectations were high. The interpretative station with history lessons was interesting. Maybe better if you take the longer hike but we had been murdered by bugs on an earlier hike that day.

I was expecting something different after this trip. Simply another chute with more water and water!

The Hawk Lake log chute is something to see no matter what the season. Especially impressive in the spring when the water is flowing quickly. Information on the log chute's history, a picnic area and an easy hiking trail are close by. Visiting in the...More

What a beautiful Spot! The only remaining log Chute in Ontario is a wonderful piece of history with an interpretive kiosk which details the history of the logging industry in Northern Ontario. Take a picnic and hike the trail. It was worth the drive.

I saw this listed in 'Things to Do' in the area and figured I'd make a stop as I was travelling down Hwy 35. I grew up in Haliburton County and can't believe I've never been here, or if I have as a child, I've...More

No, it's definitely not a ride. It's a historical site that wouldn't be of interest to smaller kids but, as the reviews say, it's a great piece of Canadian history that's well worth the drive. But then, I'm biased, since I... More

A few hundred yards downstream of The Chute, there is a place where you can pull your car off to the right, safely. This is where you can inflate you inner tubes and launch your party on the river. The river is quite... More
