More
Opened to the public in 2013, the Fernie Museum is located in the heart of historic downtown Fernie. The museum offers two floors of exhibits, a gift shop, archives and visitor information services. The main floor permanent exhibit highlights the story of the Fernie region, from the use of the area as a transporation corridor by the Ktunaxa to underground and open pit mining to the development of Fernie as a four-season resort community. The second floor gallery features rotating art and history exhibits. The Museum also offers a range of programs throughout the year, including popular themed walking tours during the summer. Museum staff are on hand to help guide your paths as your explore our museum, community and the environment around us – whether it is on the ski hill or on our many hiking or biking trails. Public washrooms are available and the facility offers barrier free access.

Thank you for visiting! We also think our front desk attendant, Cory, is fantastic. He gets a lot of very positive comments on Trip Advisor for his knowledge and professional, friendly demeanour. We will be passing your comments into him.

Very nice little museum which showcases Fernie's history. Some good interpretive displays, a few hands-on components and great value for $5/adult!

My wife and I enjoyed the hour or so of time visiting the museum after skiing. Glad they were open past 4pm. A great way for travelers to catch a glimpse of Fernie's early days as the settlers there were surely tenacious people.

We are glad we visited this museum. For a small space, it packs in a tremendous amount of information, and contains many historical artifacts. The staff member was able to answer any questions we had about the displays. Worth the $5 entry fee.

This museum was a great find. The Museum is located down town and was a wealth of knowledge. The gentleman who greeted us was very approachable if you had any questions. A donation is the fee

Small, very attractive displays. There is a photo exhibit on the 2nd floor which should not be missed. It really gives a visitor a feel for the community of Fernie.
