Look for the orange posts that separate Alberta and Saskatchewan

For those of you who don't know, Lloydminster is a border city, nestled between Alberta and Saskatchewan. To signify the provincial boundary and 4th meridian which marks the border, these four, 100ft. high giant survey markers were erected. All shaped like the survey stakes used during the original survey of the border between Alberta & Saskatchewan. They also represent four... More

A great, striking way to celebrate Canada's "border" city. Find a parking spot nearby and walk on over to get a picture beside the markers.

Essentially, there are orange beams that line a small section of Lloydminster. Maybe I'm missing something, but I was not awed by what was offered. I was looking for more of an explanation, more reason behind what is seemingly a bland choice to mark the "Border City". Traffic was busy around the area, so I would keep that in mind.... More

I lived in Lloydminster for about 20 years. I grew up close by. I saw the markers go up. I thought the yellow line on the sidewalk that was used when I was a child and up until the markers went up to be much nicer. Never had to worry about the yellow line falling over in high winds either.

I missed the posts the first time through, but someone pointed out to look for the orange posts, so I found them the next time. I would have thought there would have been bigger signage to identify the border cross, but they are small. The posts go for a ways down the border line. Not much to look at unfortunately.

Lloydminster is a novelty in that the main street is the Provincial Border between Alberta and Saskatchewan. Located behind City Hall along Hwy 17, they have erected 4 tall thin markers that are painted orange. While it is unique, it really only requires a quick stop for a photo op.

A nice border crossing which leaves no doubt about where the actual border between Saskatchewan and Alberta is. When driving along the highway through Lloydmimster you won't miss out of this!

Not really much to see in my opinion but there's no mistaking where the AB/SK border is. Kind of cool being in a border city.
