Gannets were beautiful

We enjoyed our 5.6 Km hike to the gannet colony and especially enjoyed watching the interactions among the gannet couples and gannets diving into the bay for fish

This island has a rookery of many thousands of gannets and the hiking trail we took leads right to the birds. They are not afraid of humans so the opportunity is for photos is wonderful.

Visiting the island is really the only thing to do in Perce except for whale watching cruises. So, if you are going to go there, you will want to see the birds, so make the most of the trip by enjoying the hike to get to them. We took the longest route which was a moderate hike. If you go,... Beautiful view of Perce and Perce Rock from the Island. Gannet Colony is amazing, worth seeing. Pack a lunch and spend the day.

This is an adventure not to be missed. For us "old timers" I would recommend taking the shorter (45 minutes or so) Les colonies trail which goes directly up and over the island and leads directly to the Gannett viewing station. Remember I said UP because there is a bit of stress and strain here but it is definitely worth... More

We took the boat f on the Percé harbor. It circled the island where we got a great view of the gannets perched on the cliffs by the thousands. Seals were scattered on the rocks below. That whetted our appetite for the hike to come. After a short 45, gentle climb across the island we came to the area of... More

Seeing the Gannet colonies on Bonaventura Island has been on my bucket list for years. How to be in a National Geographic moment only a day or two from home. However, after doing a bit of research, hubby was not sure that his tricky knee would be up for the 5.6 km hike across the island to see the birds... More

We took the boat around Bonaventure Island and Perce rock at around 10am, and stayed on the island until 4pm. The boat tour around Bonaventure Island and the Perce rock was great - we saw tons of wildlife, and the explanation of the geology and history were fun. I would advise doing the boat trip as early in the morning... More

Loved walking here, trails were pretty easy but the views and wildlife were great. When we were there we managed to lose the crowd and you felt like you had the island to yourself. One tip-bring your own drinking water as there isn't any on the island except in the shop / cafe which is extremely expensive.

The trails are beautiful and easy but seeing the birds was the highlight of our trip. There are more than one spots to see them and our favorite spot was where the tower is. We can see them the closest. We were on the island for 4 hours but it wasn't enough for us. We wanted more time to watch... More
