The historical exhibition is informative and well presented. Of the two current special exhibits I wasn't overly engaged by the photos of the gigantic doll's travel photos but the mountain biking exhibition was very interactive and impressive. The efforts of the trail builders and the...More

This facility, located in the old post office (then city hall) is very well done, with artifacts from throughout Nelson's history. Of special interest to me were the displays of artifacts showing the role of indigenous peoples in the region.

Enjoyed this museum. It answered a lot of questions about exploration in the area and the mining and other industries. The exhibits were well chosen. The descriptions were thoughtful. The films on show raised interesting questions about the impact of settlement. My only quibble was...More

This absorbing museum is at the base of a steep slope on one of Nelson's many San-Francisco-like streets, in an imposing, turreted, castle-like building dominating its corner location. It dates from 1902 and was originally a Post Office. It's built of rough white granite in...More

Stopped in here mostly just to try and kill some time. It's a neat little museum with some interesting information on the local history, but you can go through it pretty quickly. Won't last much more than an hour if you're with somebody and if...More

Charming museum with a very good run down of the local history. Spanning foundation, industry and sport and more. Amazing given largely run by volunteers

The museum is very interesting. The Art gallery portion was not open when we visited but the Museum itself and the gift shop make it well worth a visit. If you are 'into' Museums, give yourself a little extra time to view all the exhibits.
