It was a good experience before we embarked on the Alaskan cruise. First of all the parking of our tour bus on board was very convenient for us to reach the ship to and fro without any 'stampede'. There was adequate and comfortable seating available, and efficient food service at the restaurant. There is also an exclusive lounge available at a... More

If you are going to travel to or from Vancouver Island you have no choice but to use BC Ferries to get where you are going and it is costly. If you travel on a long weekend better make sure you have a reservation or you may be waiting 2 or 3 sailings or may not be able to travel... More

Hi 259sharon, Thank you for your quick review. The crossing between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay is absolutely beautiful, especially on days when the sky is clear enough to see Mt. Baker in the distance. During peak traffic volume times, it is always a good idea to make a reservation. As we understand that cost is very important for our travelers,... More

We are regular travelers on our B.C. Ferries. They are modern, great service, food too expensive, but still very good service from the dining experience. Well" oiled machine". Lovely saling to Vancouver from Nanaimo

Ferry user for decades, with planning or reservations this is a way of life on the coast to get around. Like many, using the ferry system less due to high cost. It is what it is. Ferry food has showed signs of improvement from past choices but pricey. Will continue using the ferry as needed, but don't go out of... More

We rarely travel on the BC Ferry system any more and this last trip just reinforced why. A simple return trip off of the island on one of the major routes, is a full day affair. We arrived very early for our ferry, but had to wait for the next sailing, as there were too many people with reservations. I... More

Dear Murray M, Thank you for the review. Though optional, reservations are always recommended if you are traveling during a peak time (such as the weekend/holidays) or if you would like to be guaranteed on a specific sailing. For routes between Vancouver and Vancouver Island or Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast, we reserve approximately half of the vessel in advance,... More

We booked 3 nights, with the 3rd night free package which was excellent value and nothing but a positive experience. From the call to the booking agent to organize the holiday to the ferry ride home, everything was handled in a friendly, helpful and efficient manner. We had a great value getaway and will most definitely book again!

the cafe serves white spot food which is awful but in the past you could at least order your breakfast the way you liked. Now your choices are fried eggs or disgusting scramble. There are other choices but these will be even more expensive. This is an expensive trip as you will have to get a reservation (18.50) for the... More

Although you have to show up about 45min before departure, the BC Ferries are very efficient at loading and unloading. The large ferry between Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay and Vancouver Island (Departure Bay) is very comfortable and well maintained. Large and comfortable lounge chairs are plentiful. Remarkably the food service is quite good and VERY popular. Long lines form immediately. The... More

Travelled to and from Victoria beginning in Vancouver While comfortable with food & beverage available. Nothing flash about either with the services seemingly at capacity which may explain the less than great service.

I live on Vancouver island so I have a love-hate relationship with BC Ferries, but most of the time I love em... One of the best things is the buffet service, lunch or dinner. Go hungry because there is a lot of variety and the steamers are refilled regularly during the sailing. If you get into the line early you... More
