I was staying at the Skeena Spey lodge on the Skeena river in July, 2015, and our guide took us to the Kalum. Hooked several nice Chinook there. A beautiful small river accessible from its confluence with the Skeena river.

Fly fished (spey) the Kalum (from Skeena Spey Lodge: it's the perfect access spot to reach the Kalum and it's great chinook fishery. Skeena Spey Lodge and it's guides were fantastic, and the kalum is a beautiful, productive fishery. Would like to return there for steelhead.

The Kalum River, which joins the Skeena just west of Terrace, is a clean, clear river. It is famous for it's Spring (King) Salmon run, but also has a sizeable sockeye run. A river (jet) boat is the best way to navigate this pristine stream, but it can also be accessed at several spots by going up the West Kalum... More

Didn't see anyone fishing, but my kids had a great time learning to skip stones from their dad. Great afternoon, water a bit fast running for my liking but I had one hand on the toddler the whole time. Beautiful place.

Water was low and the river clearer than my bathtub. Fishing was really challenging - but that is spring steelheading. A beautiful river that is the spawning ground for some of the largest spring steelhead around. Fishing the Kalum is an annual event for me! Don't expect either easy fish or a lot of fish. But hte experience is outstanding!

This river flows out of Kalum Lake near Terrace, it has a fine run of big spring salmon as well as steelhead and the winter steelhead fishing is good. I recommend a guide.

Bar-none the best steelhead fishing I have ever experienced. I even caught a couple on my ultra-light "dolly" set up. I would highly recommend this river to anyone looking for a once in a lifetime experience. Even if you don't land any fish the scenery and tranquility are more than worth the trip.
