Take your family and friends to experience pioneer life of the Mennonite community. The Haus features exhibits along with talks, workshops and information about the Joseph Schneider family. Lovely quilts displays and other craft exhibits. Also the gardens are interesting.

We all remember going here for school field trips in elementary school if you grew up in KW. It's still as fascinating and educational as it was. Kids will not get bored as its very interactive with the staff

To be honest, I only came here because the Woodside National Historic Site, which I was planning to visit, was closed. What a find! This was much better than I expected. The 200-year-old house is fascinating (furnishings and building techniques), the other buildings on the grounds are interesting, but what made this place stand out was the guide. She was... More

You must come! Enter a different world. A world where life is simple. They schnitz apples, fire bake bread, dry fruits and veggies, butcher and on and on just like in days gone by. They dress like pioneers. Our guide was perfect. Her heart was in the scene. They have school programs too and summer children programs. Every week has... More

Having visited several historic homes in Ontario this summer, I found this place a breath of fresh air, casting light on a community of settlers with origins far removed from the British Isles. Although the restored home is impressive enough, I was particularly taken with the exhibit in the adjoining visitor centre, elaborating upon the Schneiders' history through the nineteenth... More

I've been to this museum a few times over the past several years, and it's always a pleasant and educational experience. The main focus of the museum is the Schneider house, a restored Mennonite home that dates back to 1816. There are also art and photography exhibits, and a folk artist in residence program. Knowledgeable staff in period costume are... More

I recently venture over to Joseph Schneider Haus with some co-workers and we all had a great time! The male interpreter in the building was very informative and polite. He interpreted the perfect amount without following us around or making us feel like we were being watched. He was absolutely excellent and answered all questions that were asked.
