Love this trail. Wear cleats for traction in the river bed as it is super slick. If you have snow pants you can also slide down the ice when you get to the falls. To the right the trail is sketchy but manageable up the...More

Went with Discover Banff Tours for the Grotto Canyon hike. It was -20C but surprisingly warm once we got into the canyon. Having the guide was great for pointing out the things we would miss by ourselves, providing the cleats and hot chocolate and cookies...More

Short, easy hike suggested by the Canmore Information Centre. Adored the view of lakes in the distance.

I attempted this hike in the summer and had to turn back due to the mosquitoes being very bad. I went back after the first snowfall and wasn’t disappointed! The hike is easy for all levels. Well marked with lots of beautiful cliff fronts to...More

This is a great hike up and old creek on the mountain side to a waterfall. Turn around at the waterfall and and back to the parking lot for a 4km hike or keep going up the creek.

We had a couple of hours to spare in Canmore so tried this walk. It's a little slow going at first but as you get further into the canyon the rock walls and waterfalls are lovely. The path is rocks all the way so make...More

Waste of time (at least in July). The riverbed was dry. The walk here from the free parking lot besudes frog pond is very annoying. The hierogliphs were nowhere to be seen - seems they were eroded years ago and no one has bothered to...More

We were there at the end of a dry summer season and enjoyed walking through the narrow gorge mingling with the locals and watxching the daredevil rock climbers .

Lovely walk with my family. It was appropriately long and challenging that our little one felt like an adventurer, but I was not concerned for her safety. Gorgeous scenery.

As you are walking up the canyon, they will be on your left side as you enter the last section of the canyon right before the waterfall. They really are easy to miss...we had them pointed out to us!
