Designated heritage site in 1983, this Arts and Crafts House was restored to 1925. Featuring period gardens, heritage gallery, “Joey’s Playhouse” and access to Mill Lake. Abbotsford's important early industries are represented in Trethewey House: it was built with the finest fir lumber produced at the mill on Mill Lake. The bricks used in the chimneys and fireplaces were made with clay mined on Sumas Mountain and processed at Clayburn Village, B.C.'s first company town.

What a gem! We visited this August and had a lovely tour of the Trethewey House by a lovely lady who works in the Archives next door! Be aware of their limited hours that these tours are available, but well-worth planning your trip around them. The house is gorgeous and so-well preserved and set up! It was like stepping back... What to do on a rainy day? Go to a local museum and walk back into history and a glimpse of how the very well to do lived then. A beautiful arts and crafts house made to look as it did in the early part of the 20th century when the owner was a lumber baron! Absolutely beautiful inside and... More

This old house was the family home of very prominent local family. In its time, it was a revolutionary building with forced air heating, electric lights in every room, and numerous other features that we now accept as routine, but in 1912 ... this place was innovative. The photographs of old Abbotsford are fascinating. The house is located at the... More

If you're interested in early life and industry in Abbotsford this is a good place to start. This heritage house museum helps tell the story of the Trethewey family and the mill that supplied much needed lumber for building this town in the country. The MSA Museum Society operate this facility on behalf of the City of Abbtsford as part... More

This place is great to visit any day of the year, but at Halloween they put on the great Hunted house for people to enjoy! Super creepy!

Lots of history. Some say the Trethewey House is haunted. They have seen on more than a few occasions a Woman upstairs staring out the window. Usually at mid evening just before dusk. The house sits on the park Mill Lake park. Beautiful photographs of the family and lots of stories of there life.

Beautiful old house with a great story. I really like the old style house and all the period furniture. The lady there was very informative about the history of the old house and family that built it.
