Although it is a little expensive, if you don't feel like doing the hike(the grouse grind), you can take the gondola up to the top. On a clear sunny day you can get an amazing view of Vancouver and the surrounding cities as well as a view out to the Georgia straight. There is a fenced area with two Grizzly... More

We went in mid December and spent a few hours with the family but unprepared for the snow as we came from Southern California. Unable to walk too far as we didn't have snow boots or proper shoes but it was a fun day and the gondola ride was great with fantastic views.

This is a pretty grueling non-stop hike straight up Grouse Mountain...I had to find stuff to do during the day as my friends work during weekdays as I visited Vancouver so I took the Bus early in the morning to this....and the hike itself isn't that long...1.8 miles about and just a tad over 1.5 hours for me...it is pretty... August visit on the day after a major business project. I took a neighbourhood ferry and bus trip to the base, then started to walk. Didn't aim to do this much walking, but I took to it. Some spots were like climbing a rope ladder it was so steep. Loved it. You do not know you are at the top... More

My friends and I spent an evening on Grouse Mountain, exploring different areas and Ice-Skating. There is no better view of City of Vancouver and North Shore of Vancouver than the one you get from the Gondola skyride. The adventure starts as you get off the Gondola and arrives in the chalet. We went there in winter (holiday season) and... More

I'm local, so I got an annual skyride pass, an annual parking pass and snowshoes. Weekdays are easy for parking. On the weekend I went up about noon, stopped in the top lot at the end of a row, and within 10 minutes, three cars left. People go up early and leave at noon. There are two levels of snowshoeing... After purchasing an annual parking pass, within less than a month I realized I would not be using it due to the parking lots being full on numerous occasions. I did not realize how much they must oversell their parking passes. I requested a refund, which I was denied by Nick Sutherby, the Base Operations Supervisor, as he said "we... More

We spent a few days snowshoeing, beautiful weather, not crowded, had a friend with the yearly pass, so the ride up to the top of the mountain was half price.

Expensive to get up the gondola ($240 return for 6 of us) but the views were spectacular. Afternoon sun over vancouver in winter is quite magical. Did not realise there was ice skating and cheap skate rentals ($5-8) up there, otherwise would have planned for more time. Nice outdoor fire beside the frozen pond is lovely. Chalet is small but... My wife and I were excited to go snowshoe at Grouse Mountain but didn't realize how busy the parking lot and Gondola would be! We couldn't find parking (Sunday am) so we turned around and drove down the hill to the overflow lot. Instead of going to the mountain we enjoyed the view of the lake and hiked the trails... More

Hi Robjob18, For sure, the Mountain does experience peak periods and sunny weekend days, with great snowfall, do tend to attract visitors to the Mountain. We do offer an earlier upload on winter weekends, with the first Skyride running at 8:15. We'd love for you to come back to experience the mountaintop. Early morning might be the ticket! More
