Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Took ferry from Auckland to devonport just for a general look see afternoon. Visited the navy museum which was interesting and served good tea, cake. Decided to walk across to Cheltenham beach and so glad we did , quiet, very sandy, clean shallow and really warm water with a great view. Had a lovely hour paddling and sitting in thesun and shade, then climbed to the top of the hill and had just perfect views of Auckland, well worth a visit

I invited friends to a picnic on the beach and everyone really enjoyed themselves. There are huge Pohutakawa trees providing dappled shade. The golden sand is soft and clean. Everyone swam or walked along the delightful calm beach. When the tide goes out the tide pools are flat and extend far out to the edge of the headlands on either side. A very special place. No car parks so plan to walk from local streets which are packed at high tide.

We caught the ferry from Auckland to Devonport and were loved it. Auckland is brash and loud and Devonport gentle and quiet in a very good way. Very easy flat walk to Cheltenham Beach. Beautiful.

Went with friends, and it's a lovely beach to chill on. It's got lovely sand, and there are lots of great climbing trees and a diving platform for kids. It also is great for adults, to read a book on. Sometimes there are too many stones and shells, which make it uncomfortable for you to stand or lie on.

We toured along the Cheltenham beach on a tour and saw some of the wonderful homes and a great beach. If you could afford it and wanted to live in New Zealand then this would be a great place. Touring this pleasant place was enjoyable.

A beautiful, wide beach located near the North Head. Great for paddling and swimming alike, not crowded at all, offers beautiful views and a quiet spot to relax.

Cheltenham Beach is a narrow sandy stretch with easy access from main roads and the local bus. Food shops and cafes are nearby and a boat ramp is at the Bath Street Reserve. The outlook is to Rangitoto island

Clean, not too busy, short beach walk, beautiful houses around the area. The water is not rough and a great place for young children to swim. Awesome views of sailing boats passing by.
