A Must See!
Jun. 2021
We visited Koorana Crocodile Farm recently and had an amazing day. Sophie taught us so much about these reptiles and we could see the passion in those who love them. I thoroughly recommend a visit. Great value, friendly, educational and kept us wide awake! What an adventure.

Highly recommend a Visit
May 2021
Our Group thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Koorana Crocodile Farm last week. Our Guide Sophie was very informative and lots of fun. It was an amazing experience and of course the delicious Devonshire Morning Tea was enjoyed by everyone. Some of the members of our group were thrilled to be able to hold a small crocodile and to have met John, the Owner. Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Informative, Fun and Sophie was the perfect guide

We really enjoyed our visit. The hour and a half tour with SOPHIE was very informative with Sophie willingly encouraging questions and providing comprehensive answers. There were some children in the group and she responded very kindly to their questions. Sophie presented the information with good humor making the whole experience a lot of fun with anecdotes for each of the large crocodiles. We also ate some crocodile which was “interesting” to our palate.

Lots of fun!

We visited the Croc farm while we were in Rockhampton for Beef Week 2021. We weren't sure what to expect but we really enjoyed our experience. We have 3 young children, 6, 4 and 17 months and they all found the experience amazing! Very hands on and loads of interesting information. Well run and animals are well cared for.
Our tour guide Sophie (the Pom 😊) was lovely and such an informative guide.
Would highly recommend.

Disappointed

After queueing we arrived at the gate to be told they are sold out and you need to book. Going back on their Web site the information about booking is at the very bottom of their sites. If it it is sold out it should be at the top of the website to avoid an unnecessary journey

Unique an unforgettable experience to watch a baby croc hatch
Mar. 2021
Fantastic experience. We visited this farm before, but this time we made our trip with the hope to see a baby croc hatch from its egg. We learned about this possibility from watching a video about the farm on our previous visit. The farm website was a great help as they publish expected hatching dates. Of course, it should be realized that they are “expected” dates as little crocs might have their own idea about when to hatch. But we were very lucky and had an unforgettable experience watching a baby croc hatch. It is such a unique and special experience! It is unparallel to anything I have had experience in any wildlife parks or zoos anywhere in the world.
I am profoundly grateful to the Farm owners for allowing visitors to experience it.

The rest of the tour was quite enjoyable as well. The lady, who conducted the tour was knowledgeable and provided a lot of interesting information. Although it was our second visit to the farm we did not have a feeling of repetition as it was a different tour guide last time and the whole presentation and show was different too (it was very interesting the previous time as well).

So I guess every time you can learn something new and have a great experience. We definitely plan to visit Koonara Farm again.
From my personal observations, I might add, that I prefer male tour guides on crocodile feeding tours (I saw similar shows in other QLD, Vic, NT, and WA parks). Females, by nature, are more cautious and timid when it comes to getting close to such grand wild creatures as the saltwater crocodiles, and as far as the show concerns male presenters make a much more impressive performance.

Holding a young crocodile at the end of the tour is always a very exciting experience.

Lunch (crocodile steak is my favorite) in the cafe overlooking ponds with drifting crocs is definitely one of the highlights of the trip. The food was absolutely delicious on both our visits.
My advice is to place a lunch order when you purchase your tour tickets (if you go on a morning tour). That way you get your croc steak or other croc meat treat without waiting, right away after the tour.

A small souvenir shop gives a chance to take home something to remind you of your visit (we bought a “croc” teapot last time). I wish they had a book “Kissed by a Croc” by John Lever - adventurer, storyteller, traveler, and owner of Koorana Crocodile Farm (I found it in my local library on return home).

There are a lot of interesting photos, newspaper articles, and other stuff in the cafe/main hall visitors area which gives a glimpse of the old crocodile hunting days.

All the staff we came across in person and when making a booking over the phone was exceptionally pleasant, friendly, patient, and helpful.

All in all, it was an awesome experience and we will be back!
