Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place was an absolute shop full of beers and literally nothing else- not a brewery experience. It was very very underwhelming due to the lack of draft beers available for tasting before purchase.

Tours were not available due to covid restrictions. The atmosphere was incredibly boring, there was nothing much going on and no customer service talking to us explaining beers etc before we purchased. Beers bought were nice but brewery gave no experience! We could have been at a supermarket.

Hi There, We are sorry that you found your visit to the brewery underwhelming. As you mentioned we are currently unable to run tours due to covid restrictions which is up on our website. Perhaps next time you can try our bar in Inverness where you have the option to try all of our beers on tap which sounds more suited to what you are looking for. We hope that you will give us another chance, all the best, Cat

Great to see a local business thriving. We dropped in as we had a bit of time on our hands and the shop had huge choice of organic ales and beers brewed on the premises and "brewery" gifts.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Unfortunately, tours currently closed due to Covid, but the shop is well worth a visit to stock up on some interesting beers.

My adult son and I visited the Black Isle Bar in Inverness June 12th. We loved their beer so much that we decided to visit the brewery the next day. Set not too far off the beaten path, along the beautiful countryside, we made it there just before they closed. The staff was super friendly. Without expecting it, we even got a tour of their facility. Since we are often more familiar with the bigger brands and operations, it was nice to see how the workings of smaller brewery, with a local feel. We already knew we liked their Helles, Freis Pil, and their Scotch Ale (BTW, the Scotch Ale was the best we ever had!), but they let us sample a couple others. We picked up some merchandise and concluded our visit. Our only regret is that we can't get Black Isle beer in the US 😞.
It was a wonderful experience, which we would definitely recommend.

We stopped by at this great brewery where we were warmly welcomed by staff despite it approaching closing time. Unprompted we were given a quick tour by Lawrie who showed a very unique level of knowledge of breweries. Dog friendly.

Visiting friends in Fortrose and decided to explore a distillery. It was ‘quiet time’ so not open and our friends booked us into the Black Isle Brewery tour with Dina. Brilliant!!! Educational, knowledgable, passionate and hilarious, she gave my husband as good as she got!! Saturday tours with Dina, book now!!?! X

Booked via email for the brewery tour; beyond impressed to find on arrival that it was free. Very knowledgeable member of staff showed us round and tastings were offered of four different beers. We bought a few to take home from the well-stocked shop too- all were lovely! This is a small brewery but is a brilliant example of its craft, with effort made to source local and embracing the circular economy. Hope it goes from strength to strength. Also the BEST zero alcohol beer I’ve ever had. Despite visiting with under 18s they were made to feel included and given a free ice pop which is also notable as many similar establishments simply ignore kids.

A gem of a find in the heart of The Black Isle. Very friendly staff and a great tour with a free beer! Came reccommended by the fantastic nearby Henshire B&B. Loved the Yellowhammer and the North Coast 500 IPA's.

Visited today with my husband and had a lovely tour with the very friendly and knowledgeable Dinah. She definitely knew her stuff and was happy to answer questions and chat about the processes. After an enthusiastic recommendation we’ve come home with a case of the organic pale ale which we’re looking forward to sharing. Good choice of products in the shop.

Me and my partner cycled here on our trip up north. The sun was shining and we sat outside enjoying the beers. The lady who served us (so sorry we did not get your name) was so lovely and added to our experience with such excellent customer service. We bought some to take away and will definitely return in the future. Thank you for a great day with great beers. P.s the cycle uphill on the way back was horrendous but we survived.. with sunburn! Highlight of our trip :)
