Fun for the whole family
Jul. 2021
Had a blast. Pricey but worth it. Tubing was great. Equipment worked. Boat was decent but a bit old. Did most of our paperwork on line and they were short staffed so it took an hour to leave the dock but our dock person was wonderful, friendly, informative. We'd do this again!

Great Company!

We reserved a 20’ boat for a half day (3 hours paid, 4th hour free). Reservations were very easy to make and are recommended. We picked a very busy time so it did take about an hour to get checked in and on the boat. Our 4 hours didn’t start until we were on the boat. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We are repeat customers and they always treat us right!

It’s too expensive. Paper work is too long, it took me an hour to leave the dock. They charge for everything (docking fee $85). It’s to complicated to leave the marina. I would not recommend this place. There has to be another in Tahoe

Family boating trip

+ Mike at the dock was super customer friendly, knowledgeable and a thorough professional! He got us a really nice boat.
+ Rio was very patient in going over all the details about the boat and also got us setup with the life vests.
+ We had a wonderful time on the lake and ended up renting for almost 4hrs!
- The refueling charge was higher than what everyone had told us.

Highly Recommended.

Everything was top-notch. The folks doing the paperwork were efficient, informative, and worked quickly. The guys dealing with the boats were friendly and did a good job running over the boat operations. Highly recommended.

One small thing - the boat radios go into alarm every 15 minutes, complaining that they don't have a GPS something-or-other, so you have to push a button to shut the alarm off. Guys, get that fixed - it's incredibly annoying, and a potential hazard, as folks have to take their eyes off the water to do this.

Such a blast, you have to do the 1000' parasail!
Jul. 2021
Oh my goodness such a blast!! Mark and Pete were so much fun! My mom wanted to go 1000' up for her 80th birthday, so she, my nephew and I went - absolutely breathtaking and the guys made it so special and such an absolute blast! They took tons of pictures for us (that turned out great!) and we also opted to rent their GoPro for great shots (getting to take the video card with us. We now want to come back and rent the entire boat in September with more family - super memorable and amazing!!

Go somewhere else, do not put your trust into Ski Run Boat Co.

If the reviews in the last few months are any indication, there's a need for a change in management and customer service training at the Ski Run Marina. Ski Run Marina has a big business to run with many power boats, pontoon boats, jetskis and more - and it's a cash cow. Just because you have largely cornered the market in SLT does not give anyone the right to treat anyone in a unprofessional, degrading or demeaning manner.

Seems that about one out of 3 reviewers have the most horrible experiences of their lives. Mind you, not just dissatisfaction, but incredibly unprofessional and traumatizing experiences with some reporting perceived racism. Reading them makes me realized that it seems a bit like roulette, do you want to play roulette with your time, money and emotional well-being?

My own experience comes down to mismanagement.

I had planned ahead of time for a family trip and I rented a 5 day boat mooring buoy back in early 2021 for early July. I booked this on their website 3-4 months early. Then less than 2 weeks before my booking start date I get an email that my mooring buoy reservation was cancelled with no clear explanation besides that it was due to a "multitude of circumstances" (code for someone not doing their job). I thought it was a mistake since I had booked mine so far ahead of time. So if it was a capacity issue, of course they'd honor my reservation since I had made it so far ahead of time, rather than someone who requested a buoy in the last month.

Finally after emailing and calling over and over for a few days, and getting bounced around between their Tahoe Keys location (prompt, nice and professional) and their Ski Run Marina location (nearly impossible to get a hold of, abrupt attitudes) - I got a hold of someone who claimed that they had to cancel "all mooring reservations", because the lake water was too low. This was completely untrue because when I visited the Ski Run Marina to take a looksee during my reservation period that was cancelled, they had many, many dozens of private boats (not only the Ski Run boat company red boats) moored in the mooring field. I saw many dozens of large private boats, sailboats, power boats, wakeboard boats (just like mine), ski boats, etc, etc. So surely it was NOT true that they had to cancel ALL mooring reservations as I was told.

So I took my wakeboard boat out for the day from the Keys and took it through the Ski Run Marina mooring field with my depth finder only to find most of their mooring field was 5-6' deep. Plenty of depth for pretty much any boat. Because I got the run around, I can only be left to assume that this is simply a case of mismanagement of their reservation system and they likely rented out more mooring buoys than they had and then screwed my family that had planned months ahead of time. Even if depth is going to become an issue at some point this year, that also comes down to management (or mismanagement). I visited Tahoe Keys Marina and they acknowledged that Ski Run failed to plan ahead of time to dredge their field even though the lake levels were totally predictable since many months back.

Thanks for nothing Ski Run Marina. By cancelling with such short notice I had no opportunity to find an alternate arrangement. I have spent thousands here over the years, and never again until you have a complete revamp of your management and customer service to your customers. Staffing, high demand, pandemic is no longer an excuse. You need to manage your business like a business - not a $h!t show, over-renting your fleet (buoys, watercraft, etc) beyond your capacity and ability to deliver. The crowds will eventually die down and you will have a literal boat load of people who will never give you their business again.

Boat Rental in Lake Tahoe
Jun. 2021
We rented the C class as recommended by the staff even if it was just the 4 of us. It's a bit steadier. We did have trouble starting it up when we stopped in the middle to go swimming. They walked us through it and was able to start it up again. It just added to the time. We also got lost trying to find the pick up pier. Added to the time as well. SOOOO ... watch your time closely. Still, it was great to explore the lake on our own and enjoy family time!
