Nice and quiet not many tourists. Take precautions to avoid altitude sickness. For the first part, you'll be transported by minibus up the mountain, with a few scenic spots to stop by briefly and take your pictures. The bus will reach the midway point over 30mins straight journey, where you have the opportunity to go up a further 1000 metres... More

This region is next to the famous Jiuzhaigou. Of course if you have not been to Jiuzhaigou yet, it is the first choice. The Heishui is similar but less commercialised and less crowded. Hotels are clean, simple and really cheap (range 100-150 RMB). Some farmers invited us to eat and to live with them. Of course, we would not live... More

It is a short drive from the Heishui County of about 10min. The place is very tourist friendly with proper english translations on signage as well. There is a van bringing tourists up the mountain. Throughout the journey of about an hour drive up, we saw no snow so we thought there is no ice in summer. However as we... More

We took the cable car to/from the Glacier.. It was cold and the whole place was covered with snow. There was a round platform as lookout point. Due to the snow, we hardly could make out where the glacier was One TV station was having their outdoor shootout. There are other attractions like the Tibetan Macaque Sightseeing areas, Tuofeng Mountain,... More

Jiu Zai Gou was amazing, but the views here is a notch higher. Blanketed with thick snow in April. Even had a chance to see a Tibetian village and have tea there. I do not know how without a tour can you get here, felt super remote. The altitude is really really high, half of my tour group couldn't take... More

We went there on the way back from Huanglong/Jiuzhaiguo to Chengdu. The road to reach the Heishui, or the town where the hotels are, is a bit scary, rockfall from steep hillsides is waiting to happen, but we made it with no problem. We stayed one night at Heishui Glacier Hotel. The hotel quality was average with no restaurant for... More
