Unfortunately we coudn't choose what kind of beer we'd like to try, there was just 4 sample option even though they offered more on tap.
Also chicken wings weren't good at all. Very poorly prepared, it looks like not done as the skin and all was still soggy...so far to crispy :((
On the other size the place and surroundings was great and ribs and other food looks way better than my one.

The food is not what it used to be, the prices have gone though the roof for food and Drinks and to make it worse the plate sizes have shrunk, however the meal quality has remained the same from a few months ago.

The wait time for food was about 15 mins which is pretty good, and food itself was good but nothing spectacular considering the price.

On a more positive note there are a wide selection of beers and the atmosphere is pretty good, with great open spaces its a perfect stop for a sunny day.

Its just a shame that the prices went so high otherwise I would be a regular there including in the off peak seasons.

There is a person to check vaccination at the door which we were happy about. We were shown to our table but No one told us that we had to scan the table code and order online, but we found that out eventually. One order was for a “ bucket “ of prawns….. for $38 a bowl of 10 prawns, not what I would call a bucket . The $9 “ bacon Maple” chips were just a small cup of plain chips. The burgers are small. All food was delicious, however, way overpriced for no service. The beer was great and the atmosphere was lovely. I wouldn’t recommend this place simply for the false menu items and price gouging.

Whats Happened To Murrays. We visited today expecting our usual fantastic experience with food but everything has changed, new chef, new limited menu, new over the top prices. No pizza on Monday-Thursdays and the amount of food you get is certainly not value for money. 2 of our 3 meals were returned to the kitchen because they were undercooked, the rocket salad had slime in it, the quiche wasn't cooked through and the chicken burger tough & also pink inside. Quite honestly they were inedible. We didn't want replacements or a refund, we were put off by our 1st meals so chose NEVER to return whilst the cafe is run by these people. $28.00 for a tiny Brisket Burger & chips was insane. It was the only meal not returned but only half was eaten as the brisket was overcooked and dry, the rest went in the bin. Maybe they were having an off day but I doubt it.
If you are looking for a coffee and cake/croissant, go for it but if you want a great burger or meal, we recommend giving it a wide birth (take it from a local who has been there plenty of times).

PS. This is not a reflection on the bar or wine tasting or even the helpful staff, just the new menu, chef and food. Bring back the old menu and chef please.....

Booking for 18 people for lunch, we go every year whilst on holidays.
Ordered x3 sweet potato wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli ($12each) they were the size of a small McDonald’s fries packet, in a little cardboard packet and only had 2-3 actual large wedges and underneath were soggy fries, totally unacceptable for the price.
All meals were horribly small and way overpriced. Bruschetta was 3 very small (think credit card sized) pieces of bread and a small pile of topping on a cardboard dish, $18, unacceptable again for price.
Several of us normally get the bbq tasting plate which was a great size and tasted amazing. This year only a bbq lamb shoulder dish. Multiple people ordered this @ $38each. Unbelievably small pile of pulled lamb and a small pile of salsa verde type bruschetta mix and a little tub of tzatziki sauce. We were all very shocked and disappointed by this stage. Pizzas were very average and the kids had to pay $5.50 per tiny Dixie cup ice cream for dessert as they were still hungry.
We have loved Murray’s for years but we will not go back until this is fixed. Other tables were complaining about the prices and size of meals etc and a bloke on the table next to us was heard saying “Is this a joke” when he got his prawn bucket.
On departure my daughter asked to go into the gift shop and found a smallish rocky road chocolate in cellphone. She bought it and came to the car and told us it was $14, OMG, no even close to enjoyable.
Lift your game Murray’s, it’s covid yes , but don’t take advantage of your customers like this.

I paid over $30, and only ate 2 slices of pizza

There weren't many single serve vegetarian options (burger was described as vegan, but nothing else in description, so assumed it was the fake meat). I got a pizza which was a bit pricey, but I figured the left overs would cover off a couple of lunches during the week.

The pizza was served in a takeout/take home box, but was cleared from the table with glasses, and some plastic baskets.

Most places would assume the take out box is going home with you. (I wasn't at the table at the time they took it, I'd stepped away for a few minutes, and the others were turned away from that end of the table, talking).

Having a long drive back after, I was thinking about the food waste, and general waste the place must generate. Can't be great for the environment. They were serving the food in disposable containers, rather than plates that get washed after use. Normally, the pizza box would indicate "taking home" , here I think they just see it as waste to be thrown away.

The prices are too high for the service offered. The orders were done online, we picked up the meals when we were texted to say they were ready, the pizza just came in a takeout box, my dad went to find a plate and paper napkins for me, none were offered with the pizza.

People were walking around clearing used items off tables, but seemed ignorant to the norms of the closed take home box means you are taking it home.

They are charging premium prices for a self serve model you might see at a cheap junk food establishment.

They had run out of cider, didn't much like the ginger beer.

While holidaying in Port Stephens last week, we visited the above. It was a great experience, we had beer paddles and wine and then moved inside to try the gin, flavoured vodkas and very nice liquors. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, we left with a box full of goodies. We ran out of time to try the wine, but will be back next time we are in the area. Highly recommend a visit.

Such a shame how far this place has fallen. I’ve had many a good time here but now the staff, in particular the senior staff, literally act like you being there is a hassle, which is a good sign of a toxic workplace. The website says they are open till around 6pm. We arrived at 4pm. The kitchen stopped serving at exactly 4pm, couldn’t even get a milkshake for the kids. The bar shut at 4:15pm which was given how many people were there was just crazy.

The owners have obviously checked out for whatever reason

We stopped in on our way up to Nelsons Bay on Friday night and arrived 20 mins before closing (we hadn’t realised they didn’t serve dinner). We were able to fill our growlers though- $44 for 2 refills! Not bad! We then rang an hr before arriving on Sunday and they were able to sit us and serve us. We had the Angry Man Pizza and the Fred Man burger. So freakin good!! We would love to come back!

Having read the reviews I was a bit worried about coming here. We tried to come in summer and it was so crowded that we gave it a miss. However, yesterday we were the first group in. Thankfully, a sunny day so we sat on the deck. Ordering from the QR code was easy. WE shared a pizza which was delicious; a beetroot salad, and a couple of burgers. the service was good and the food faultless. I'd be happy to come again when not crowded.
