About
Tours consists of 3 elements, an up-close visit to the cliff top towers of the Woolnorth Wind Farm, Tasmania's first large scale wind farm and information centre. A visit to the historic Woolnorth property homestead and historic precinct, while driving through the dairy lands of the Van Diemen’s Land Company(VDL Farms). Finally, a visit to the breathtaking Cape Grim where we see the wonderful coastline, breathe the Cleanest Air in the World, and witness all the islands off the NW coast of Tasmania. 193 years of agricultural history and a focus on indigenous culture and connection to PLACE. Learn about modern, large scale farming, get your head blown off in the Roaring 40's, chance an up-close encounter with Tasmania native animals and access coastline that dates back 250,000,000 years. We are the only way to visit Cape Grim, part of privately owned land. Tours depart from 1665 Woolnorth Road, Woolnorth. Morning tea is included. All COVID-19 precautions are in place.

Great experience with an excellent Guide who is passionate about her business and loved providing a well informed commentary on all aspects of the areas we explored. Wind farming , dairy cattle and wildlife all in harmony in a beautiful scene. Some historical aspects on the cruelty of early settlers towards indigenous people which we should all be aware of which was delivered with real passion and humanity. This is a great tour that visitors to the area should put on their priority list.

Was expecting a tour of a working farm. Maybe it is but not for sheep. The major focus was the wind farm. Pity we had to pay good money for the only way to visit cape grim. The bias and propaganda from the operator Laura made it very uncomfortable for us
Would not do this again even if it was free!

An excellent tour, Laura is a most knowledgeable and interesting guide, the location was absolutely stunning, delicious morning tea. We learnt about farming with ever so friendly cows, wind farms where we listened to the ‘music’ they made as they spin through the ait, and saw the most stunning coastline. Don’t miss this one!

Pretty Disappointed in the tour, Bit of a scam because didn’t even see the dairy or farm operation, just saw a wind farm and drove around the roads around the farm and she spoke a lot of crap and propaganda.

Despite it being a cold blistery day we had an amazing morning. Laura’s knowledge was such she could answer every question before it being asked. Historical, technical or environmental, she knows her stuff. Totally respectful of the Aboriginal spiritual history, she gave us an insight we haven’t experienced before. 100 % recommendable to anyone seriously interested in how Tassie evolved, developed and became to be the nation’s pearl.

Laura gave a heart rendering account of the treatment of the indigenous people of the area. Her passion for the area and her insights gave us a real understanding of the history. We learnt a lot about this area of Tasmania and modern farming. Our group gave her our full attention. Everyone enjoyed the tour and with a maximum size of 10, it was perfect.

Truth telling and honesty. I expected to be shown around a property which has been a leader in dairy production and green energy. Well I was and it was interesting and informative and funny, because our guide, Laura, is all of those things. However, it wasn't the facts and figures or world firsts that grabbed my attention. Truth telling and honesty did. Laura's devastating retelling of the dark history of Woolnorth which stained it in its first year, was beyond compelling. The unlawful, immoral slaughter of the people who lived here peacefully in such long, uninterrupted history is yet another chapter in the book of shame invaders perpetrated, all over Australia but in Tasmania with such disastrous outcomes. The views at Cape Grim are staggeringly beautiful but tempered by what happened there. This is a brilliant tour and my extreme admiration to Laura.

It's not surprising to learn that Laura took this guide job when her mum called it quits.
If you are in the area this is a must do, Laura great insights not only into the windfarm, the longest original use land grant still in its original use. Along with the indigenous history, Cape Grim sure lived up to its name and the cliffs and surrounds-so rugged yet beautiful in their own way. Morning tea- homemade cookies. Even before the cookies my husband commented on how glad he was that he wasn't able to talk me out of doing the tour

Laura was a very informative tour guide. Hearing the history of Cape Grim as told by Laura with such feeling made a couple of people in our group quite emotional and brought tears to the eyes. It has a sad and cruel history. Laura told this story while we were in the old shearing sheds having morning tea before heading out at Cape Grim. We could picture what happened when we were out there.

Seeing the wind farms up close and hearing how they operate was fascinating.

The only negative was that we had checked to see how many people would be on the tour before committing to it, as one person in our group of six is immune compromised and we were advised there would only be eight people. Another three were added so the bus was completely full and the back seat with four across was very squishy.

We weren't in the bus for long stretches of time, so it wasn't a huge problem but if you are not little people it is something to bear in mind when booking.

It is well worth going on the tour and you will learn heaps of information and history of the area.
