The 4 day 3 night Komodo tour was truly a 5 star experience. Firstly, the views the moment one set foot on the boat were breathtaking. Lying on the upper deck and watching the mountains and rolling hills of the islands slowly pass by us as we sailed was unforgettable. One of the most memorable experiences was watching the bats fly from the islands into another distant island as the sun set. After that, the night sky gradually began to bloom with stars as night fell. We even saw a shooting star. On the second day, we jiked padar island. The views from the top of padar island was amazing, the neverending sea in the distance, the surrounding mountains on the islands, all of these made for a view that was out of a lord of the rings movie. After that, we went snorkeling at a fee islands. At one of the islands, we docked at a pier, and walked a short distance to the cove. The corals in that cove were ethereal and colourful, and were the best corals i had ever seen in my many snorkeling trips overseas. In addition to the multitudes of fishes, we even saw a green sea turtle resting on the soft corals. It was so close that i could dive down to touch it. On the third day, we were taken to see manta rays at Manta point. With a bit of luck, we managed to spot a total of 3 manta rays. The first manta ray that we saw was truly gigantic, and we thankfully managed to spot it while it was in shallow water. I could dive down to be within a meter of the magnificent creature, and saw its deep black skin close up. It was a once in a lifetime experience. On the next island, we saw so many turtles that it became a common sight.
The guide ryan, was accommodating, informative, and helpful. He often helped us carry our bags, and provided detailed information about each of the places that we visited.
The food on the boat was delicious. We were served local Indonesian dishes, such as fried fish, stir fried squid, etc. The fruits they served was fresh, juicy, and sweet. Sometimes, after snorkelling, we would come back onto the boat and be served a delicious snack of pisang goreng(deep fried banana fritters).
The air- conditioning on the boat was surprisingly cold, and allowed us to have a restful nights sleep. The shower and toilet facilities were basic, with us having to flush by pouring water in a bucket into the toilet. However, they served their purpose well enough.
