Initially from the entrance by the dovecotes this looks nothing, as there are screens rolled down to preserve the paintings inside, but once inside it is quite breathtaking. The paintings that cover the walls are slowly being restored, but be prepared for crowds, on the day we visited it was packed and at times you were shoulder to shoulder walking around, being told not to stop to take photographs. Although they are allowed and there was no charge for cameras at the time of our visit.
Interesting to learn that the Sultan lived here until his death in the battle where he was defeated by the Duke of Wellington. Also that the main beam and other timber used to build St Stephen's Church in OOty was taken from this palace in 1830.
Large lawned gardens make for a pleasant place to take a picnic.

Located in the city of Srirangapattna, one has to take detour from Bangalore-Mysore highway. Maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India, the summer palace of Tipu Sultan has been converted to a museum. There is an entry fee of ₹20 which can be purchased using the QR code places outside the entrance.
The place is sprawling with a big garden and looks serene. The palace is made out of wood and has various painting adoring the walls.
The interior of the palace houses multiple relics and paintings associated with Tipu Sultan and his rule.
You've guides available at the entrance. There is a washroom located near the entrance and was maintained well. Overall the place is also maintained well.
A good place to visit and would take you approx 1.5 hrs to complete the visit.

If you are a history buff, you must visit this place as it carries a lot of artifacts, else you can give this a miss. The small palace has a lot of artifacts from the Tipu Sultan era. The paintings on the wall are also worth spending time.

It's amazing, though due to curtains (bamboo)from outside it may seems ordinary. Also get one guide as it helps to truly appreciate the place, for example the wall has been painted with natural dyes, paitings appears to focus on whichever place you stand, etc. These nuances are explained by a guide. Guide cost is Rs350 and there are several guides, though we used a young guy named ShivKumar, very good guide. Important to book entry ticket online as it is under ASI hence only online ticket allowed. Wall depicts several wars fought by Tipu Sultan, which is quite nicely depicted in wall. Do not miss, it's super interesting place.

This site was a little haven of tranquility after the bustle of the many towns and cities we visited on our trip. The building is in remarkably good condition - though far from perfect - considering its age and all that it must have been through in the last 200 plus years and the gardens are all the evidence you need to understand why it was the chosen location for Tipu’s Summer Palace.
We last visited the palace in 2014 and it is clear that restoration and preservation work is still in progress but this does not intrude on the visitor experience so do take the opportunity to visit to learn about its history and to admire the artistry of the construction and the amazing decoration on the walls and pillars.

Daria Daulat Bagh is Tippu Sultan's summer palace in Srirangapatna, an island of Cauvery about 14kms from Mysore. It is a palace amidst a beautiful Mughal garden.
The 18th century Mughal architecture and artwork is just delightful. Furnitures, coins, Tippu's sons' sketches, portraits, dresses, weapons and other antiques add up to the beauty. One can spread a blanket and relax on the lawn, enjoy the beautiful and colourful garden or simply take a stroll. Kids can play around. A great place for selfie lovers and photographers as well. This is a perfect picnic spot for familes and a short and sweet getaway with friends. There are public transport facilities, restaurants nearby and the directions to get here on Google maps is apt. Paid parking facility is available.

The summer palace when we entered through the gate we were instantly disappointed as we could see in the distance that the palace was covered in blinds to keep the sun off.
Once we got into the palace we then saw the beauty and it is magnificent.
The paintings on the walls and ceilings were amazing and due to the blinds still very colourful.

The Dariya Daulat palace or Tipu sultan's summer palace is a hidden gem and a must visit monument for those interested in Tipu sultan and the siege of Srirangapatnam in the 1700s. A must visit for history buffs. However, there are quite a few things that detract from the experience.
Firstly, the entrance fee. The ASI/Indian govt. have tried to make the entry ticketing experience easier by moving it all online. However, they have failed to take into account that foreign visitors lacking Indian methods of payment have no way to pay. We spent over 1 hr trying to figure out the way to purchase tickets with the officials out at the monument unsuccessfully until our driver volunteered to pay for the tickets and get reimbursed.No cash options available either. Seriously??? For such a good tourist attraction, why is the ticket process so miserable? India can and must do better than this.
The monument itself looks like a tiny pavillion from the distance and barely worth it. It is a mistake to think like this. Once inside, you see that the jute mats have been hung to protect the beautifully painted walls and ceiling. The structure has a lot of plaster and wood and all of it is exquisite.
Definitely get a guide. He will enhance your experience beyond all measures. Our guide was fantastic and walked us through the life and times of Tipu sultan. The interiors house paintings, pencil sketches and weapons from the Tipu sultan times. They also house his clothes and you can see that he was a very short individual.
Sadly, this is all that remains of the legacy of Tipu sultan as the British took most of his belongings back to UK after the fourth war of Srirangapatnam. One has to visit Windsor castle and Powis castle in Wales (home to Robert Clive) in order to see all the items from his era.
Looking through this building and its contents, one can easily transport themselves to the era of Tipu sultan.
Lately, his name is controversial with religious groups fighting on whether he was a good or a bad individual. One however must not forget that he was integral to India history and that with his defeat, the British made major gains into Indian territory.
The grounds are maintained very well. However, the signage to the monument is very poor and drivers not familiar with the area will simply drive past the spot without realizing its significance.

Thanks to Praveen Singh of Hidden Gems Tours, on our final day in India we saw dramatic frescoes that covered all the walls and ceilings at Dariya Daulat, a summer palace of Tipu Sultan in Srirangapatna, about 80 miles southwest of Bangalore. He was the Muslim ruler of Mysore 1782-99. The frescoes showed that era’s architecture, scenes from everyday life, geometric designs, and battles against the British. The sultan died in such a battle, losing to the Duke of Wellington, who then lived in this palace. The frescoes are protected by a wide veranda and shades. This was our third and final day with Praveen, and he was excellent in every way—knowledge of Karnataka province and its history, appreciation for cultural stops such as markets and religious sites, and willingness to add sights not on his regular tours to enrich our Indian experience. Boh my husband and I highly recommend Praveen and Hidden Gems Tours our of Bangalore.

The monument is truly 5 stars. The paintings are amongst the finest things I have seen in India (and fortunately they now allow photos). However, as others have stated, the ticketing system for foreigners is a nightmare and nearly. The ASI had better clean up this mess they’ve created or a lot of foreign tourists will leave India bitter and disappointed.

Is there any provision in bannerghatta national park to keep luggage..we are actually planning to go to Bangalore from Mysore n visit the national park on the way

You might not find any provision on luggage room in Bannerghatta National park. The place in question is a separate place.
