A nice schist castle located in the Serra da Lousa and surrounded by forest. It takes a little to reach by foot from Lousa city center but the hike is worth the place and views

The castle on its own don’t worth the visit but the surroundings totally yes. Go to the site and skip the castle, you will not regreat

Last month was under renovation, so I did not see it in full bloom. Very nice views from the castle. Also, a nice area for a picnic or a swim :)

We drove in on motorcycles and stayed in this Castle! What a class treat after a long break day's ride through the forests and villages of the Serra da Estrella. Staff were extremely helpful and service was excellent. Rooms are dated but not like motel 6 but now like this place used to be a castle. …

On the outskirts of Lousa, the Lousa Castle, under renovation when we were there with restricted access, still impresses from its imposing contours and its schist construction. The castle is a short walk to the picnic area, restaurant and pools down the hill. The Lousa Castle is great piece of local and architectural history; you should check it out.…
