Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First time going there and the beach was amazing, white sand and clear blue waters. The waves were decent and not dangerous to kids. If you walk further south there are two rock pools.
Comparing this with Cronulla beach there were more lifeguards on the beach and patrolling this area.
Summer day and scorching heat, the beach was packed. Parking was hard to find and took us a while to find parking. Once you find parking you hold it to dear life and maximise your stay.

Lovely long beach to walk a rocky outcrop to explore.
A small flagged area with lifeguards in vehicles.
The swimming area has strong currents and pounding waves.
If you have children the lifeguard kept saying, stay close to the shore where there is a drop/depression before a shallow sand bank, then the deep end and crashing waves. Most adults stood on the sand bank.
There is a small kiosk, we didn’t buy as expensive and not appealing.
Also toilets, a pavilion, no car park fees.

A lovely wide beach, with loads of places near by to grab a coffee or bite to eat. A chilled vibe around the area.
It was rough when we were there, and the beach was closed but there were still lifeguards around.
Visited in February - so unfortunately a few bluebottles about but nonetheless a great beach that generally doesn’t get as busy as Bondi and Coogee.

This beach, very popular with surfers, is located only about 12 km from the center of Sydney. It is wide, with fine sand, clean, with crystal clear and warm water (its temperature in May was 20 degrees), with good signage, not very crowded, with all the necessary services and has a beautiful promenade that continues along a coastal path to Coogee and beyond. It also has a children's play area (perfectly delimited and signposted), bars, restaurants and shops on the Paseo street and other perpendicular streets.
Not far from the beach we were able to see typical birds of this country such as ibis and magpies. The latter can attack you if you approach their nests, as signs posted in some places warn.
In short, it is a beautiful beach, where we spent some wonderful days, my wife and I, in the company of our son, his partner and our granddaughters who live there.

A beautiful place to chill out. I often walk to the cliff tops which is secluded and watch the sea. Great place for spotting whales. Ideal place if one is after peace and quiet.
Good place to surf and the beach front has many cafes and restaurants.
The weekends are rather busy.

Beach with a lovely picnic area. Spent the day here with the family and it was amazing. We enjoyed the take away fish and chips. There’s a nice walk way along the beach side. Worth the visit.

We live nearby and go here often. It's clean and the waves are very popular with surfers. There's a rock pool at one end which is great for kids. Be careful, though. This beach is known for dangerous currents and rips. We hear the rescue helicopter searching for drowned swimmers every other week. Swim between the flags where the lifeguards can see you.

Don't come to Maroubra...!
Go to Bondi, Coogee or Tamarama, those beaches are alway so quiet and have so much more parking. You will have a much better experience going to any other beach than Maroubra. Don't waste your time coming to Maroubra, you couldn't possibly have a wonderful experience. Maroubra is so tiny with hardly any room on the sand. Maybe drive to Cronulla.

Absolutely beautiful for Winter walks, Summer swimming and year-round enjoyment. Great Cafes, Pubs and even Clubs. At the far end there is a very safe place for kids to swim. Great place for everyone and never croweded. Plenty of parking too.

I would like to report an error in my last review. It should have been attributed to the location of Beauty Point, Tasmania.
