A nice place to have a walk on the wooden path along the long beach. In January you could not swim. A couple of beach restaurants were open, many of them were closed.

Nice beach with sunbeds for hire and free toilets. Sand/pebble beach - good for water side strolls with a few restaurants to stop off at for drinks/lunch etc. Boardwalk easy access if you do not want to walk on the sand. Free parking nearby - we found a space quite easily in low season.

Nice beach area but a bit narrow and stony. Parking also Is a bit of a problem. Lots of fishing off the beach.

We are still in a pandemic with social distancing, masks and all that , there are people on the beaches and the loos making sure everyone are sanitised , well everyone except the looky looky people trying to sell their tat , no gloves , no masks how many other people have touched their stuff , and nothing is done about it , which is wrong and it need to be addressed.

Calahonda beaches are rated as one of the safest in the world, Luna beach bar and Chringuito (restaurant and bar on the sand) should not be missed with great food for lunch and dinner, often with live entertainment, or Max Beach for refined dining and great outside views. This part of the coast is welcoming and friendly and won't break the bank.

At this time of the year, especially during the week, the beach is a great place to go to relax and unwind.
Calahonda Beach however is probably not one of the best beaches in the area as it can be difficult to get to unless you are staying locally and don't need your car..as there are bridges over the highway and parking at weekends is difficult.
It is an approx. 60 mins walk along the Senda Litoral/Boardwalk from La Cala Village and has a number of bars and restaurants along the way.

Hi
I’m just wondering if the bars have live music/entertainment in the evenings as this resort sounds perfect as we are looking for something relaxing by day but like a few drinks and listen to live music in the nights. I’m wondering wether we need to go somewhere busier?
Thanks

Calahonda is a great base, there are a few bars and some restaurants that have live acts. Also La Cala de Mijas has an Irish bar called Biddy Milligan’s which is lively most night with bands etc.
Bonjour,y a-t-il des excursions en bateaux ou autres activités depuis la plage de la Calahonda ou faut-il s'éloigner ?

There's a family of 5 of us, just wondering if there's 1 or two bathrooms? As it shows 2 different bathrooms on the pictures

Two double bedrooms for 4 people. There is a sofa in the hall but not sure if it is a sofa bed. One bathroom but there is another loo as well.

Calahonda Playa is sandy but there are some rocky places around. As previous responder said La Cala or Elveria are good the latter preferred by myself but I would refer you to reports on Trip Advisor re Cabopino beach which is even closer to Dona Lola and could be walkable if no car available.
You do have the boardwalk passing Dona Lola facilitating a walk along the beach from Calahonda to La Cala. The best beaches do get very busy in high season with parking heavily used.
Enjoy your holiday as there is plenty of sand to enjoy.

Gracias.
