Wow!! What an awesome day. Haven't been horse riding in over 20 years and was a little nervous but the girls put me at ease. They knew which horse to give me and he was perfect.. lazy and stubborn...just what i needed. Good old Skipper.
Would definitely recommend Spring Creek.

We were a family of five (three teenagers) with very limited riding experience. We really enjoyed the ride and the staff were extremely patient and helpful. Great horses for beginners and a beautiful track through the bush. Two of our party were struggling after a bit and so they were taken back on a shorter track which allowed them to walk with no cantering while the rest of us cantered on. Great fun for animal lovers, even if you are new to riding. Felt very safe and great care was taken of both animals and riders.

What a wonderful place! We were greeted by friendly staff upon arrival and made to feel very welcome. The horses were all exceptionally well behaved and my daughter (8) had a great experience for her first trail ride. We rode Dino and Foxy who were just beautiful. The whole experience ran smoothly and we can’t wait to go back!!

A beautiful trail ride began with the intuitive and easy to use online booking system.

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted, informed and checked in. Special note was made of concerns we had about our abilities and minor relevant health issues.

After careful fitting and adjustment of helmets we were allocated and introduced to our respective horses, all if which appeared well looked after and content.

The ride itself was beautifully handled by our extremely competent guides, stopping at various intervals for briefings and advice on technique etc.

With due consideration of our progress through the ride we were offered and taught trotting and even for some of us cantering too, using both in-saddle and “2 point”standing methods.

The scenery was gorgeous, the horses appropriate and responsive and in particular our 2 guides were great interactive teachers, listening and thoughtfully responding to any clarifications or general information we sought.

One of the best conducted rides I’ve ever been on!

Spring Creek Horse Rides is set adjacent to the Otways Nation Park, just 30 minutes easy drive from Geelong West.

I have been fortunate enough to ride there on very many occasions usually to doing the 2 hour ride. The booking system is easy to navigate.

There is ample car parking with plenty to look at during the short walk to the stalls and reception / check in and paired with your horse according to your ability. All staff are friendly and experts at allocating a suitable horse.
Assistance is given with mounting with the use of a mounting step.

Once on the trail the lead guide (of at least two on each ride) there is a well worded and demonstration of a "rising trot" as the ride then proceeds out of the property
and into the native fauna-rich Otways National Park.

For those who like to canter, there is plenty of opportunity, the fast pace being exhilarating and thrilling, with all the power of these magnificent horses (who know where to go) underneath you. Sometimes the horses will take advantage of those people they recognise as beginners by frequently putting their heads down to snack on foliage along the trail.

The horses are safe and sometimes, at the beginning of the ride, like to jostle for their place in the line. The horses are extremely well cared for and the tack well maintained. and checked after mounting and prior to setting off on the ride.

I am not sure how they do it, but the guides monitor each person on the ride from leading in the front. They can judge ability of each rider and give relevant advice to the rider. The ride is well contolled throughout and first timers are given particular attention.

The trails are numerous, taking in magnificent flora, fauna and vistas with a pinch of bushbashing amongst the forest undergrowth.

I highly recommend Spring Creek Horse Rides, their horses and the guides.

I booked the 1 hour trail ride for me and my daughter for her 10th Birthday treat, we both had an awesome time, the staff were very friendly and helpful with us as we are both basically first time riders.

I took my 3 children on their first trail ride, staff were very accommodating and friendly both on the phone prior to booking to answer my questions and on the day of the ride. The horses were great and they matched the horses well to the kids. Beautiful setting, we’ll definitely be back!

Fun trip through beautiful native bushland with caring, patient guides. My nine year old son and I are beginners and we felt well looked after. Horses seemed happy and well fed. It was a great thing to do during our school holidays!
