About
Bellbrae Estate is a boutique, family owned vineyard and cellar door on the Great Ocean Road, less than 5km inland from Torquay and the iconic Bells Beach. Situated in the Geelong wine region of Victoria, Bellbrae Estate enjoys a cool, maritime climate that is well suited to our range of elegant wines made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz. The Cellar Door is open for wine tastings, wine sales and of course delicious locally made produce. There is a broad range of food to pair with home made pies, cheeseboards and share platters. Recently awarded Best Additional Experience in the Geelong Region by Gourmet Traveller Wine for our programme of live music with a fantastic range of genres from local musicians. Entry is free and music is from 2pm on Sundays from October through to April, and bookings are encouraged! We are also a pet friendly and family friendly venue with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the local wines and relaxed surf coast atmosphere.

Tasting
Jul. 2021
Was made to feel unwelcomed. As a tourist during Covid times al we here is how tough local business's are doing. X 4 of us visiting from South Aust went to 3 local wineries. Bellbrae was our first. 'Can i help you" with a tone of i dont really want you here but i'll serve you if i must. Was more than happy to pay the tasting fee but after that greeting had already decided my tourist dollars were staying in my pocket. As a regular visitor to Torquay and Bellbrae we wont be going back.

Disappointing Sunday Afternoon
Dec. 2020 • Friends
We booked for a Sunday afternoon music/wine/pizza event with a group of friends. Yes, the weather wasn’t on our side, we were allocated tables outside in the drizzling rain. Outdoor tables were moved under large pine trees to provide a little protection, fortunately we all had rain coats and had come semi prepared. At $24 per head, we only got one glass of wine and two small pieces of shared pizza each (pizza hardly had any toppings!) along with the entertainment which was far away in the marquee and couldn’t be seen and barely heard. We purchased more wine by the bottle as the three hour event continued. Very disappointing all round apart from the joy being with our friends after lockdown. I think Bellbrae Estate need to rethink “value for money” for their guests at such events! Don’t think I’ll return in a hurray.

Amazing Pinot and cellar door experience
Nov. 2019
The quality of the local dog loving gent at the cellar door enhanced our experience - we found some awesome back vintage pinots for around $50.
The venue is known for its entertainment under the trees with local artists from Melbourne enjoying the Sunday afternoon session about once a month

Great Food, Average Location
Sep. 2019
This winery is worth the visit but certainly nothing special. The cellar door wasn't open on the day we attended (Friday) but the restaurant was operating. Ewe had lunch and it was a good meal, very large portions and well priced. The service was fantastic. The cuisine is French.

The proximity to the main road and the nondescript older buildings let this place down.

Nothing fancy and rude
Jul. 2019 • Friends
The man serving on the day we visited was obviously flustered by the 7 people he had to serve at the one time and didn't cope with the pressure. Perhaps he should reconsider his role in customer service because there is no need to be rude. Reluctantly purchased a $35 bottle of wine, overpriced and nothing special. Winery has potential but needs to improve on customer service first.

Great wine but
Dec. 2018 • Friends
Great location and fairly good facilities. Kids can run around and the Sunday entertainment (Jarrah) but.

40 dollars for a platter of pate and cheese is ridiculous especially when you see the size of it. I can understand 8.50 for a wine but the food was small and extremely expensive

So much potential

Wine selections are very acceptable. Service is not connected to their hospitality role, not now, not in the past i.e., 2015. No sense of service. Venue has the possibility of being very good, nice rural setting, food selections very limited. Could offer so much more to locals and visitors alike.

Dropped in for a brief tasting. Very informative and good discussion on the wines and the winery. Purchased the Estate Chardonnay and the Rose. There is a very nice are out front to sit under the trees. Apparently they do lunch, but didn't see menu.

Don’t believe the neighsayers
Apr. 2018 • Family
A lovely boutique winery filled with charm and splendour. We were standoffish based on previous reviews citing rudeness and and exorbitant prices.

I don’t know how much green those folks had, had but we were met by a proud host and owner, who took us through the ten tastings.

The prices were more than reasonable for the quality of the wine offered. My best was the Sparkling Shiraz, closely followed by the Syrah & Pinot Gris *note if you don’t like Chardonnay try this one it will spiral those early memories when your mum and crazy aunt Bev used to drink it during Count Down.

If you’ve got some time up your sleeve (appetite willing) try one of their share boards. Those worried about the price it was the same as a main, an entree & a frog in the pond at the local, except a longboard better. Did I mention the plate fed four (well 1+1+1/2+1/2).

Lastly but not least we were treated to an impromptu Art Show made out of natural materials by some special guests during our food plate.

In summary we sleighed the neighsayers and had a blast doing it. If you like quality food and vino book this into your itinerary.

Lacklustre
Dec. 2017 • Friends
Overpriced food, lacklustre service with very uncomfortable seats spoiling a lovely country setting. Wine not great - so why would you bother with so much competition around?
