The land of the giraffe women as polish explorer Vitold De Golish called it. Lies in eastern Burma plateau Dimpled by terraced, paddy-filled valley. Here lives Padang , atribe of about 7000 membes. Legend claims that the brass rings protect the women from tiger bites. But actually the practice of waring them helps maintain individual and tribal indentity.

It was like going to a zoo, you pay 500 baht to walk along what is essentially a market, with the long neck Karen’s selling there wares.
Makes you feel very uneasy walking past the stalls , you feel you should be spending more money as they plead with you to buy there goods, most of which are purchased from markets in town and price hiked.
The entrance fee at least helps out with education and other things (or at least we were told).
I wouldn’t go back, and to be honest, I wish I hadn’t gone.

The people in this village were trying to push you to buy souvenirs. Everywhere we came the people were told ‘tourist are coming’ and then they put their hat on and acted.
The long necks were not originally from there. One young woman told us that she came from a different country just to work at the village. All woman posed with the children just for the picture.
In my opinion, it was totally not worth the 300 Baht and I did not get the experience of the long necks as we only saw one lady with a ‘long neck’.

Just feels wrong. It is definitely interesting to see the tribe in real life but expect to feel guilty the whole time. It felt good to support them by paying the 500 b entry fee however I really felt like I was doing something wrong. The set up is just like a market where everyone has the same things for sale. Each person looks hopeful as you walk past and the young children readily posing for pictures just felt so exploitative. My youngest son (8) loved the experience and said he thought it would be awesome to live in a tribe where everyone looked after each other, but to the rest of us felt off.

Touristy place and good to explore if you haven't seen the Karen long-neck tribe. The entrance fee is 500 baht per pax.
Recommend to ask your Thai driver or guide to buy the entrance tickets at a discount of only 300 baht per pax (group tickets).

Karen Long Neck Village is a small narrow street with wooden shops where these people are actually exhibiting for a whole day. The entrance fee is quite expensive (500 Bath per person), but they willingly pose with you for the photos. I thought it was a bit self-promoting. You see the ladies weaving scarves and some men making wood carvings. You can look, take photos, but they also try to sell you. The houses behind the wooden shops are very poor and leave much to be desired.

We visited the long neck village to see the long neck tribe. The entry ticket is 500THB per person. It is a market where the long neck tribe sells certain handmade handicrafts like shawls, stoles, wooden souvenirs keyrings, etc. These people have gone habitual of tourism and know basic English. We bought certain souvenirs from here to take pictures with them.

Went out to the village as a family of 4 not realising it was 500baht each to get into the village which was nothing more than a market selling the same items. The village people are very friendly and some of the crafts were well priced but I felt it was a left down. They should consider dropping the price to 200 baht and people might be more crafts. Anyway, saw the village but not again.

To sum this place up briefly:-
Humans on display.
No detailed explanation of the village & its history or workings.
Overpriced tourist trap. We did buy some little souvenirs from a few different women. All the men were in hiding. 500 THB per person to enter a trinket market with expensive items. They got us!
We felt bad being there (guilty???) & that’s not a good feeling when you’re on holidays.
We did get some lovely photos of the long neck women.
Don’t come here looking for a real long neck village experience you won’t find it.

Nothing much to see. Luckily not crowded when we visited this place. Entrance fee quite high 300 baht per person.
The local quite friendly, they willing to take photo with us, but better ask permission before taking photo, some of them charged 50 baht.

This is just a tourist rip off. Yes there are long neck ladies there but it is simply a channel with market stalls on either side and some huts behind. You get no information/history, the sole purpose is to get money from you. 500bht per person to enter. Don’t go.
We spoke to a local who said to visit their actual village in the mountain where they live authentically, not this bad tourist show.

Any tour company you recommend to book this trip?

We had our Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai trip arranged by Explorer Tourism Network. They arranged an English Speaking guide for us which is super helpful as unlike in Bangkok, the people in Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai has limited English vocabulary. Communication could be a problem unless you can speak Thai. There's an entrance fee to the village that you will have to pay if you go unguided. Our one are covered in our tour package. The tour arranged aren't hectic as most areas are small n cozy places that does not need more than 1 hour roaming.

How much is it to get in please? We will get our own transport there.

As for transport the village is a long way from nowhere, you will need specific instructions or a taxi that knows where to go.
Sorry we cannot help with the cost of entry as our visit included entry but having already visited many sights in Thailand the cost will I am sure be minimal. The village is geared for tourism but would recommend a visit to anyone.

Its definately not wheel chair friendly. Lots of rocks and slopes around the area.
