For starters, the trip must be made for more than 1 day, the road is long and narrow, best if you go with time to spare. you could sleep in nearby towns of Barahona and Pedernales.

Bahia de las Aguilas is a great and nice spot. however it is about 5 hours driving from Santo Domingo.... but the view and beach all deserved it... with beautiful crystal clear water. will strongly suggest to take the organized tour that includes food, city...More
Bahia de las Aguilas is a great spot, and really not your average beach. First of all, it’s very secluded and sparsely visited, so that’s great. Second, the natural environment is striking: shrubby, beautiful rock formations frame the crystal clear waters perfectly. Depending on the...More

I was there a month ago ( you can check pics on Instagram @omv7) and we felt totally safe. The entrance to the park is only 150 pesos ( 50 pesos are 1$) and the tour to the “bahia de las aguilas beach” is 500 pesos each. We rented a car and went on our own. We stayed in “Eco del Mar” and it was great, camping like set up but really comfortable right next to the natural park. The road to get there gets tricky ( sandy), so better on a 4-wheeler.
Hope this helps, let me know if you need anything else.
