About
Warratina Lavender Farm is situated one hour from Melbourne in the beautiful Yarra Valley. Warratina is a tiny family-run lavender farm where groups of 10+ can visit by appointment and stroll along the rows, breathe the fresh country air, bring a picnic and enjoy the gardens and views, chat to owner Annemarie about her property and see them hand harvesting with a sickle (mid-Nov to mid-Jan).

We booked online and there is an entry fee of $10 for anyone above 16 age. Adults get a free small lavender flavor ice cream .
The place has some lavender, and a factory that process the lavender.
There is a cafe . But bit overpriced and choice is less.
Some days there will be farmers market.
Maximum you may need 1 hour to explore the area.
Overall an average place to visit

We went on 13th October. No adimission fee. There was only 1 row of lavender but we did not expect much so it was ok. There was a small art exhibtion going on, also free. We had scone and tea and it was very nice. The lady in the tea shop was very friendly to us. Thank you! Worthwhile for a quick stop if you are in the area.

A good place to learn what the bush looks like plus the way they harvest and dry the flowers. There are a few rows of lavender that give the visitor an idea of the way they are cultivated.
A small cafe serves tea and scones. Prices are on the higher side; but okay for the experience. Not much selection at the souvenir store adjacent to the cafe.

Hi Murthi and thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review about your experience at our Lavender Farm and we're so glad you enjoyed your visit and learnt so much about lavender - we want to give people a lavender experience when they visit, and as you mention there are a few rows in flowers, all year round, even when it's not Lavender Harvest (Nov to Jan). Our farm is small and we go to great lengths in all our promotion, be it on our website, social media channels and in our marketing, to manage people's expectations that we are a boutique farm on 10-acres. Our tea room serves a selection of breakfast and lunch options as well as morning/afternoon tea with the majority of the dishes being made in-house by our chefs. We have over 70 products in our shop, again, the majority of which are made using our own lavender, so the range is as large as it can be, given our boutique size. We hope to welcome you back one day soon to the farm - our aim is to stay small and do what we do to a really high standard and we're thrilled that that was your experience.

We visited to eat at the cafe as there is only a few rows of lavender out at this time. What a delightful experience we had. The cafe is under new management and was quite busy as we had a large group with us. Even so everything was very nice and orders were timely. The lavender scones were a hit as was the coffee and tea. There is also a lunch menu if you desire more food. We were served by lovely staff and had a most enjoyable time.
The gift shop has a range of products made from the lavender which are at a reasonable price considering they are boutique. There is also some locally made clothing for sale in an alcove of the cafe.
We had a wonderful morning.

We wanted to visit Warratina Lavender Farm for a long time. We were stupid. Save your petrol and time. This is as much a lavender farm as I am an astronaut. If I have a row of roses, it doesn't make me a rose farmer. MASSIVE TOURIST TRAP - designed exclusively for Chinese tourists. We went for Devonshire tea, but you have to buy the scones and the tea separately. The prices were so outrageous, we skipped the tea and just had scones. For two scones (one each), we paid $15, and they tasted like doughy bread. The jam and cream that was provided was so pathetic that stingy would be a step up. The table next to us purchased a single serve of scones and received the exact same amount of jam and cream in the same dishes we were provided for two, hence our dry and flavourless scones. The service was appalling. We had to find and set up our own high chair for our baby. The table next to us ordered their meal long after we did, but received their order first, and we had to go back inside the cafe (we were seated outside) to ask for our order, which they had clearly forgotten. P.S. They charged an unadvertised 20% premium on public holidays, which we were only informed about after placing our order. The toilets could do with an upgrade and weren't very clean. The produce on sale in the shop had eye-watering prices, designed for the Chinese tourists, no doubt. The entire place was without charm, warmth or character.

Hi Nathan, I'm very sorry to hear how disappointed you were with your visit to the Lavender Farm and I have passed your feedback on to the management. There are definitely issues you raise which they can take on board and address, so thank you for bringing them to our attention. Re your disappointment about the amount of lavender on the farm - I'm not sure how we can address this - we go to great lengths in all our media to manage people's expectations about when the lavender is in flower and when it has been harvested and how much there is. Our website states we are a boutique 10-acre farm, and has a button you click to tell you if the lavender is in flower, it even tells you the months you can expect to see all the rows in flower. So you have visited just after we finished harvesting, and this is all over our facebook and instagram feeds - specifically to manage people's expectations before they visit. Lavender is seasonal and has to be harvested once a year, so we purposefully keep two rows in flower all year round, so there is always lavender in flower for visitors to see. The surcharge on a public holiday is standard practice across the country now and addresses the inflated wages that venues legally have to pay their staff on public holidays. But once again this should have been stated on the menu, so you were aware before you ordered. I will make sure this is addressed by management. I do hope you will visit again next year (between mid Nov - early Jan if you can) to see the rows of lavender in bloom as it is a beautiful sight - and you made no mention of the harvested drying lavender in the sheds during your visit, but I hope you went inside the drying sheds as the aroma is quite heady and it's amazing to see 10-acres worth of lavender, hand-harvested by sickle and hung up to dry. :-)

Fantastic gift shop and beautiful cafe! It's not really a place where you walk around looking at the lavender but rather sit still and enjoy a peaceful tea supplied by the wonderful cafe. They were a little overwhelmed at the cafe but were very sweet and friendly.

The tea itself was excellent. They had a lot of lavender-flavored items, like lavender+black tea, lavender ice cream and lavender scones, all of which we tried. I can't describe what lavender-flavored food tastes like, just that it feels like lavender in your nose. It's something you have to experience for yourself!

The gift shop had a fabulous variety of items. I went away with soap and lollies while my mother bought far more, including 2 lavender plants which the owner of the farm gave her instructions on rearing.

It was a thoroughly pleasant way to spend the afternoon. I wish I'd brought a book so I could've sat on the spacious lawn and read a little while my dog romped around.

Highly recommend!

Although the Warratina Lavender Farm website said the lavender was currently blooming, in actual fact there were just three rows of lavender blooming, the rest had been harvested. We visited on 10 January 2020 and received no value for the entrance fee charged. The empty cafe had nothing on display other than a handful of lonely biscuits in a jar. Overall it was a massively disappointing experience and fell very far short of our expectations.

Its a nice place for people of all age. A nice cafe with yummy lavender flavoured icecream and tea. Entry is usually free except full bloom season (Late November to Jan??).

We went with a group of folks to see his farm. He was very rude and not customer friendly. He needs to stop this business and sit at home. Don't open a business if you cannot behave well with your customers. It's a No Go place, Google other lavender farms.

We always come by for these:
1. Lavender scones
2. Lavender ice cream
3. Lavender candy

And 4. Knock yourself out with pictures of the lavender in the 2nd field on your way to the exit. Not the 1st field (main one) near the cafe. But please pay your dues to the cafe staff for that privilege of your Provençal shot!
