Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Jus returned from the most immersive trip into an ancient rainforest and world heritage sand island, Fraser Island for the last three days. Martin Burns was our tour guide who was warm, generous, accommodating and with a great laugh even with his dad jokes and not dad jokes. Co-travellers were loads of fun. Didn't want to return to Australia. I feel energised and recommend Martin as your tour guide, he informed and showed us so much of this magnificent overseas island, twirled in the 4WD and stopped to see things on the M2. Much better than a great big bus.

Our trip was to Moreton Island and to say I had a great time would be a huge understatement. The island is beautiful and the sea is crystal clear.
Our tour guide was Mark and he was great! Very friendly and welcoming with alot of knowledge about the island. We booked the 3 day trip and were very sad to be leaving. Along with meeting amazing people , snorkelling the shipwrecks just off the beach and exploring the island we made time to sit on the beach and watch the sun go down and were lucky enough to see dolphins swim by.
10/10 A+ 100% would go again!

Sunrover tours provided an excellent experience for my first time at Moreton Island. For a reasonable price camp was set up ready to go for us and food was cooked and provided. All we needed to do was show up and BYO booze. The included snorkelling tour was awesome, and I felt safe with my guide Jai. A very fun time was had and they were very accommodating. Would absolutely do another Sunrover tour again and looking forward to doing Fraser with them next!

My friend and I joined Sunrover’s camping tour on Moreton island. Jai was amazing and knowledgeable. He helped my friend with snorkeling the whole time. I have joined tours in Australia quit a lot but had never met a tour guide like him. He has hospitality mind and entertains people who join his tour. He is also good at photography. We had an amazing time. I would highly recommend Sunrover’s tours if you are looking for fun and memorable tours!!

We took a day trip from Brisbane to Springbrook and Tamborine Rainforest with Jai. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a fun trip and got to experience as much as possible in the short time we had! The views were amazing, the conversation was fun and educational. Jai is really in his element when talking to people, he was kind to us and our kids. It is an experience we won't forget!

I went on a two day camping tour with Sunrover Expeditions on Fraser Island. Our guide, Jai, was fantastic! He picked us up in a Toyota Land Cruiser and made the entire experience fun, friendly, and knowledgeable. We explored the island in a Toyota Land Rover, which added to the adventure. Highlights included Lake Mackenzie and the shipwreck. We encountered dingoes, jellyfish, sharks, spiders, and more. It was a memorable adventure!"

We actually went last July but have completely forgotten to leave a review. Jai took me and a pal from Brisbane to Fraser and the whole day was so so good! Great banter from Jai, top bloke, loves Ed Sheeran and drop bears! Gave us some great tips for our onward journey and made the day as comfortable and fun as possible on those dodgy sand roads in Fraser. Jai was super knowledgeable and a great laugh to chat with, we had an awesome day and would go with sunrover again in a heartbeat. Thanks for a top day Jai, we'll both be out there again soon no doubt for a catch up and a beer. Brad and Alex

This is the tour that made me really think twice about taking another tour ever again. Understanding the importance of constructive criticism, I will post suggestions after the concerns.

There main issues were...
1) Awareness. I have been on tours that were good and some not so good. This had to be the most questionable of all. There was a severe lack of information, from the meeting location (vague, and right next to a parking lot that charges $77 per day, insane) to not being made made aware of how each part was to progress. Most of the time we were unaware of what was to happen next.

Sugg: Upon registration, an email with a full and detailed itinerary would be a good start. This email should also include detailed specifics of the meetings location (including alternatives if one has their own vehicle, as we would have saved time and parking problems if we were told to just meet at the ferry where there is ample free parking.

2) Equipment. One of the first tasks was snorkeling. The quality of the equipment such as snorkel devices and life jackets were not just below standards, they were moldy, ripped to the point of shredded, the snorkel devices being in disgusting and almost dysfunctional condition. I do not believe any of the equipments had been replaced for at least 10 years. One loses faith fast when encountering such shoddy equipment.

Sugg: for the prices paid to go on this excursion, it makes no sense to provide equipment in this condition. Even dollar discount store replacements would have been better, though really, investment in good condition supplies is vital in presenting a good first impression.

3) Judgement. The day of our tour, we went snorkeling in fairly rough conditions. My first concern came when flotation equipment was offered as optional. Granted, under the conditions is was highly recommended but after being out there, it should have just been rquired for the level of roughness(shoddy as the equipment was). We were told at the beginning that one guide would be in the lead, the other at the back of the pack. In truth, the rear guide never came further back that 1/3 from the front. People were separated early and some really struggled. A couple had expressed real concern for their safety and I do not blame them. The entire situation felt unsafe. At one point people were directed to the windward side of the wreck which shocked me as it was quite strong even in the lee-side. The guide only realized the mistake when halfway out to windward and told everyone to go to the lee-side. This showed a real lack of judgment of the conditions to have gone that way at all and it would have taken very little for someone to have been in quite a bit of trouble (eventually 2 of our group were picked up by a jet-ski patrol as they were struggling to get back to shore).

Sugg: There should have been clear cutoffs for windspeed and swell. If a tour is to take people out in such conditions, there must be more guides or better yet, there should have been a chase boat/jet-ski to allow the struggling to hold onto and rest. And a complete refit of equipment is essential.

4) Cordiality. Not once did the two guides simply smile let alone talk beyond giving basic, intermittent directions. It really felt like they were just going through the motions and couldn't wait to finish the tour to get on with whatever.

Sugg: People go on tours for an experience. Part of that experience is garnered from the excitement and enthusiasm of the guides. When that is missing, it permeates throughout the group. We did manage a bit of fun but entirely in spite of how we were handled. This is the easiest fix, just requiring the right approach and attitude.

I actually wish we had taken the Sunset Safari tour. Their guides were interactive, concise, and responsive. Their equipment was top notch and their attention was specific. We did not expect Sunset's professionalism on our tour (I keep expectation moderate on any tour) but most unfortunately, Sunrover was literally the worst tour in our experience, saved only by the locality. In all honesty, we would have been far better off to just buy some inexpensive snorkel equipment and just gone ourselves. Live and learn.

5. The meal that was provided was awful with least effort. It felt like it was thrown in front of us to eat with such lack of interest.

This tour company, honestly, really did ruin our memory of the beautiful Moreton island I hope that either they take the suggestions to heart or simply fold. It makes no sense to continue business in this fashion. If I could have given zero rating I would have.

We returned today from our 3 week Honeymoon in Australia which has been the best holiday we could have wished for apart from our tour to Morton Island which in the end turned into a tour to Fraser Island

As a wedding gift my brother and sister bought us a voucher to do a day trip to Morton Island.

After going on Sunrovers website we decided to pay a bit more and do a 2 day 1 night tour of Morton Island.

I e mailed them between christmas and new year to find out some more details of the tour and see how much extra we would need to pay. It took them over a month to reply and that was only because I sent the e mail again to which they did reply.
After a few e mails we decided to book the trip for the 14th/15th April. After asking time after time and having to get a friend who lives in Brisbane to phone Sunrover to find out the itinery with out any reply I had to phone them myself.
I live in the UK so the call will cost quite a lot but I needed some answers. I spoke to Rob who informed me that we were the only people booked on the tour so the tour may not be able to run but he would put us on the Fraser island tour for the same price. He then said he would send me the cost and itinery via e mail. The week before we were due to leave for Australia I still had no information so I had to ring again. The guy I spoke to was the most obnoxious person I have ever had the misfortune of speaking to. I was told the Morton Island trip was running and when i said could you send me the itinery so I could have it all sorted before we left. He told me that I had 2 weeks in Australia before the tour so to phone him back when we arrive in Australia and then hug up on me. My wife then phoned him back and he was just as rude and arrogant to her.
We had an e mail whilst in Australia to say the Morton Island trip wasn't running and we now had to do Fraser Island. Again I had to ring because the didn't give the itinerary or price difference.
I can honestly say that SUNROVER are the worst company I have ever delt with and they really need to sort this out otherwise they wont be in busisness for very long looking at the other comments on trip adviser.
The vehicles are old and unsafe. the seat belts dont work properly, the speedometer in the truck doesnt work so the driver uses the sat nav to judge there speed and the seats have absolutly no padding in them so after a 4 hour drive you are in pain just sitting on the seats.

The one bit of advice I would give is don't expect anything from any of the office staff they are a disgrace to the company. The drivers were both very nice which was a bonus.

My wife and I booked and paid for a three day, two night tour to Fraser Isand with Sunrover Expeditions Day Tours months in advance of the trip. The night before the trip was to take place we were informed that the tour was cancelled (which included staying at the Kingfisher Resort). However, we could tag on to another tour (with backpackers) which stayed at a lower end resort but would have to pay the same price. At this point, we did not seem to have any other alternative except to cancel the tour completely. I felt like this was a switch and bait and this tour company was able to increase its profit by offering a lower cost alternative. Buyer Beware: I would use a more honest and reliable tour agency than Sunrover Expedtions Day tours.

Here is the email I got form this tour company:

"Unfortunately, the Kingfisher Resort package is not running tomorrow.
I CAN offer the same tour, same dates, but staying at Eurong Beach Resort instead.
The cost is the same, but the upside to this is that your dinners are included in this package whereas at Kingfisher they aren't."

What a joke that reply was since the breakfast at the Kingfisher Resort package was a full hot breakfast while the breakfast at the Eurong Beach Resort was a poor continental breakfast. And the dinner package was a below average buffet. The hotel room we were given had no telephone in it and was well below the standard of the Kingfisher Resort.

Also, since my wife and I were the only ones staying at the Resort, the four backpackers and the tour guide stayed several miles from us resulting in much time being focused getting the backpackers and tour guide set up and making us feel like "second class" citizens. We felt very ripped off by this tour agency.
