About
A mysterious door appeared in one of Scarborough Beach’s beautiful Norfolk Pine trees — not far from Middle Earth apparently - and local legend has it that Gollum, of Lord of the Rings fame, is residing inside! He has even been known to speak to those who read the plaque (if they are the "chosen one"). A little bit of magic in a world that's sometimes not so magical.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Magical place. Sandy beach, climbing trees n park, plenty of birds. Great day out for young family. Bring a picnic. Enjoy.

We've always loved to Gollum Tree. It's a cute little addition to the beautiful Scarborough foreshore. Great for little children.

Not much really. Worth a few seconds as you walk by a nice area with play areas bbqs and seating. Don’t go out of your way but if you are going past give it a look I guess

I have no idea whose idea it was to add the door furniture to the natural knot in this tree but it is genius. Little people are so enchanted by it and adults can't help but smile at it's opportunistic cuteness.

I had walked up and down the beach a few times before I spotted it. Cute. The little mouse door at the bottom makes it more cute.

What a great idea. You just would not expect to find this in suburbia. It's quite awesome. Plenty kf other yhings to do besides just visiting the tree.

What a great find during our family walk on the beach. It fired up imaginations and all the kids - and some adults - had their own version of the doors, what they were for, who put them there, etc.

Quirky attraction that the kids will love. A door “magically” appeared on one of the norfolk pines along with an inscription

Gollum awaits! This is just a bit of whimsy. Not worth travelling to see on it’s own.... but why not enjoy everything Scarborough has to offer and stop at this tree.... if you don’t enjoy yourself somewhere amongst the cafes, tree lined walks, parks or stunning vista... you might want to check your pulse or find better company!!
Oh, and don’t forget to wiggle your bum!

You can but don't have to go. You don't miss much. TripAdvisor wants to have 100 letters so I have to fill this up a little bit
