We enjoyed a lot this voie vert (green road) near Thiviers. You can walk or go by bike. It is an almost flat road, without cars, suitable for kids at of any age. The road is an old railway converted into bike path and very well signed. If the weather is hot or too sunny, you go through very beatiful forests. And you can find some interesting spots along the road, with information about the importance of the railway in old times. Not far from Thiviers (if you begin from there), there is a dèviation towards St. Jean de Côle. Even if you have to take a car road to arrive there, don't miss it! It is one of the most beatiful small villages in France (certified) and definitevly it deserves a visit. We could't finish the road til the end due to our kids age, but even make a short trip it is a very nice experience for all, and a very beatiful memory from this gorgeous zone of France. Dordogne has not a lot of flat bike paths as other parts in France (like The Loire, or Bretagne), but this particular path is really nice if you are nearby.
